Entrepreneurship is a lonely road. Why do it alone? It was absolutely incredible to hang with Shawn Allard and all who showed up to our fireside chat.
Throw your MBA in the trash 🗑️... If you won't take the things you learned to apply to real world scenarios, you might as well toss it. All the theories evaporate when you are boots on ground executing on a business. I've seen this first hand on multiple deals for myself and biz partners. MBA or not, the winners are those who show up relentlessly to add value, build, learn, and iterate. When I need advice for my business, I call those who've been there and done it not those who've learned it all... The crazy thing about the game is you are always learning and ample opportunity to in turn teach to others. We learn, we apply, we teach. You won't ever have all figured it. You think you've felt pain until you meet someone who's gone through more. You think you know nothing, until you meet someone who looks up to you. Buying, starting, and growing businesses is not something you do alone. Many pitfalls. Many casualties. I'm working on a biz acquisition cohort with Shawn Allard. Spots filling up already. Hit us up in the DMs to learn more.

It wasn't easy deciding 🤔 what picture to use for Anthony Garone! Dude's a multi-talented one-man show! Met some years ago (I think via Chad Bellin). Chad, you again 😂 ? Anthony runs Edify Content, a content strategy and production partner for B2B SaaS companies selling to technical buyers. As a tech native guy, it's been awesome to work with a team with deep experience in software development, IT, and enterprise sales—so it’s not your typical “marketing content” written by a marketer, it’s expert content that closes deals. He's also the man behind Make Weird Music, which shines a light on the world's most creative, experimental, progressive, and genre-defying artists through interviews, videos, and live performances. It showcases artists who push boundaries—musically, technically, and creatively—with a focus on innovation over trends. The YouTube channel is growing (40k subscribers 🤯 ) and is supported by an international community of musicians and music lovers. As if that is not enough yet, Anthony is a published author with his fourth book coming this summer called: Mental Prisons: A self-help book for entrepreneurs. He's a gem in our neck of the woods!
Lessons from the trail. Having the right tools in place just in case, can feel unnecessary - until you are in a jam and need 'em. I went off-roading today and after owning my rig for about 2 years with an onboard air compressor, finally needed to air down my tires and have the ability to air up again later due to traction issues. Thanks to Greg Beairsto for the help in getting out of a dicey situation.
Forever 21 a failure? Forever 21 is closing all US stores after its second bankruptcy in six years. Some look at this end as a failure. But after three decades of incredible success, is the decline of something a failure, or simply the closing of a chapter? Do Won Chang founded the global brand in 1984 after immigrating to the US from South Korea, where he had lived in poverty. He married and worked as a janitor, gas station attendant, and in coffee shops before deciding to take a risk in the apparel industry. One store turned into 600 over the next thirty years, peaking in 2015 at over 4 billion sales annually. Coverage is currently breaking down the reasons the company lost steam, listing online competitors, tariffs, changing consumer preferences, and failure to adapt, but all I see looking at the company's history is an impressive journey! A Korean immigrant--with simple hard work and determination, without the benefit of family connections or higher education--was able to build a brand that became a household name. It served its target demographic well for over three decades, and times changed. The clothing store is closing, but how many of us know this retailer? Bought something from them in our teens and twenties? Something doesn't need to be permanent to have made an impact, and all I see when I look at Do Won Chang is an American success story. I realized something after reading the news articles about the closure of Forever 21. The public may pick apart what went wrong when something ends, but I hope Do Won is looking back at his work and seeing all that went right.
Discipline is like intrinsic motivation that's locked in and put on cruise control because you've done the work to build up the muscle. It looks effortless but getting there took time -Neuronvisuals
What Ripples does is so amazing!! Their Ripple makers handle custom printing for all sorts of drinks like Coffee, beer, cocktails, desserts etc I got to see one of their units in action at the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) conference in Philly. The Mobile Barista x Goodlife Coffee Co crushed it!
Cutting time for custom proposals from 24-48 hours to 10 minutes. We have been working on significantly shortening our custom proposal process. Given how customized some of our cleaning services are at Shipman Cleaning Co, especially on the commercial side, it makes sense to send a commercial estimator for a client walkthrough. They take detailed notes and document what is required. We then sync internally for different resource/supply needs, and a proposal is compiled and sent out. This process can take up to 48 hours or even longer. We are at a watershed moment with AI tools. Been building out a suite of solutions to retool how we do work at Shipman Cleaning Co, starting with the proposal process. Once we have that dialed in and have demonstrable value (i.e., more closed deals and time savings to allocate towards high-value work), we will tackle additional problems. One of the issues businesses face—and I am very guilty of this —is chasing many priorities at once. While these things are often all legit problems to solve, pursuing too many at once spreads you thin and significantly reduces the odds of success. Back to proposals. Our new process allows us to - Create from scratch - Start from a variety of templates (organized by category and industry) - Upload an image to autopopulate and get you started The coolest thing? My crew can create the proposal on the fly as they walk through with the client. Key details are added right there, all calculations completed, and the proposal is ready to be shared before we leave the establishment. Super rad! #shipmancleaningco
Jesse Stafford and the Four Eight Media crew work to bring you and your brand’s story to life to help you nurture and convert your ideal customer! It's been amazing to partner for multiple events, video x audio for my podcast, and other creative endeavors. They specialize in Brand Documentary, storytelling, Podcasts, Informational & educational content, and more. Need a videographer to partner with ya? Hit him up!!
I am seeing more reports from several notable power users of Linkedin that their accounts are getting suspended or multiple warnings from Linkedin about suspected use of AI due to the activity generated from their accounts. It is interesting, though, for a platform that wants people to stay active and use it, to be penalized for, well, doing that a little too well. Ultimately, I think with the proliferation of AI-generated content and a smorgasbord of tools to pump out content, platforms like Linkedin are struggling to keep up. On the flip side, it's never been easier to stand out with authentic content.
I don't want to build the next big thing. Focusing on building the boring stuff with a maniacal focus on execution. Video from an office cleaning job with my Shipman Cleaning Co crew this morning. Need your office space cleaned? Hit us up 🤙🏾
I build, therefore I am. Sometimes, it feels like I don’t know how not to build. A blessing and a curse locked in eternal combat. A new idea. A new process. A new business. Even on vacation, my mind sketches blueprints and models. That faraway look as possibilities unfold in the mind. But here’s the thing no one tells you— Building is beautiful, but it can also be a burden. When your identity is tied to progress, stillness feels like failure. To my fellow entrepreneurs, makers, and dreamers: Remember, you are not your output. You are allowed to pause. Scratch that... You need to pause. And just be. Because even the best and most prolific builders out there need space to breathe— so the next idea can find its way in.
I'm going into Caveman mode. You see, I bought a cleaning business last year. No prior experience in cleaning or the service industry. but, I was optimistic that with tech enablement, we could make this thing sing. while all the tech changes have been helpful, it did not move the needle like I thought it would. New website, SEO investment, funnels, elaborate flows on the backoffice side of things. You could say, we have even over engineered on trying to build elaborate/elegant solutions. You know what I've found? Complexity does not = competence. The midwit trap is thinking that Complexity = Competence There are people out there just hammering out the basics really well and making 8 figures. - More phone calls - More emails to their prospects - simple ads that address pain points - Networking, pitching and closing deals No elegant workflows. Just showing up every single day to do the basics. Caveman mode. Focus on the fundamentals. I'm back to square one and loving it.
For all the folks reaching out to congratulate me for a 1 million dollar exit... It was an April Fools joke, y'all! If I really sold, they'd be signs 😂 . Thanks though :)
What started as a cleaning services company is expanding to products as well. Feels scary but also inevitable. Iteration 01 of our spot remover from the folks at Shipman Cleaning Co.
We're happy to announce that we've partnered with Groupon to offer some introductory deals for Shipman Cleaning Co!! For years, I have found some of the best deals on Groupon, so it's surreal to launch something on the platform. Redeemable in the Phoenix metro area! Link in comments 👇🏾
Great to be representing the State of Arizona and State of Arizona Enterprise Technology (ASET) at the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) conferenc! w/ Ryan Murray and J.R. Sloan #NASCIO25
Years ago, my wife and I were in Dallas for a wedding. Went over to good ol' Enterprise to rent a vehicle. We were going to just roll with a mid-size. Probably a Ford Fusion or something similar. Well, apparently they were out. They had some other options in the same category, but the rep looked me straight in the eye and said "There's no way I am letting you visit Dallas and drive something like that." He proceeded to upgrade us to a Dodge Charger for the same price. I still wonder if they were really out or if he just wanted to upgrade us 😂 . Those are the kinds of reps you want for your brand. They help create moments that make a brand unforgettable for customers. I have rented many more Enterprise vehicles after that and even bought from them.
