I started JupiterHR because I was tired of seeing talented people get overlooked. I wanted to create a space where Black professionals didn’t just get a shot—they got the strategy, the coaching, and the support to win. JupiterHR exists to close the gap between potential and opportunity.

In 2021 I became The Jobfather after successfully helping 126 Black people get new jobs in Tech. 

Through coaching, resume makeovers, interview prep, and real talk about the hiring process, I’ve helped over 400 Black professionals break into tech. Some were landing their very first role. Others were levelling up into leadership. Every single one had something powerful to offer—and I made sure they had the tools to show it.

I've built a community of over 10,000 Black professionals, launched workshops with some of the biggest names in tech, and run campaigns that reached millions. But at the core, it’s still about one person at a time. One life changed. One win that makes the next one possible.

When you see any of these on the job posting..be very very careful:

“We’re like a family.” → Translation: Boundaries don’t exist. Expect unpaid overtime and emotional manipulation.

“Work hard, play hard.” → Translation: You’ll be overworked, and “play” means a forced happy hour instead of a real benefit.

“Self-starter / Must be able to wear many hats.” → Translation: They don’t have enough staff and expect you to do 3 jobs for 1 salary.

“High tolerance for ambiguity.” → Translation: Leadership has no plan and you’ll constantly be cleaning up chaos.

“Resilient under pressure / Thrives under stress.” → Translation: You’ll be stressed all the time, and they’re already telling you not to complain about it.

“Competitive salary.” → Translation: We’re not actually going to tell you the number because it’s not competitive.

“Must have thick skin.” → Translation: You’ll deal with rude bosses/clients and they’re normalizing abuse in advance.

“We move fast and break things.” → Translation: There are no processes or guardrails. You’ll be cleaning up disasters.

“We want someone hungry.” → Translation: We’re banking on you being desperate enough to accept less pay and no boundaries.

Me to Black Job seekers who refuse to apply for jobs they don't meet 100% of the criteria for.

I know that the job market is a mess but I feel like it's imperative to reiterate this. 

Don't stay in a toxic work environment longer than necessary. Do whatever you need to do to find another job as soon as possible. 

A toxic work environment will ruin your physical health, your relationships, steal your happiness, and destroy your mental health. 

Even if you think you can "take it", or you are sure it is not going to get to you, it will adversely affect you. 

Don't let a toxic work environment become "normal", and try hard to not internalize the toxic culture.

Monday 15th September - the day melanated Brits go into the office looking at every white person with suspicion wondering if they were enjoying themselves at far-right hate marches at the weekend. Or if they were responsible for draping union Jacks up and down the country - whilst simultaneously asking you how your weekend was. British racism is corrosive like that.

Safeguarding around racism is usually a total afterthought, if a thought at all in the workplace. I worked in mental health and closely with employment law for a decade and so many employers continue to fail at this basic duty of care.

Thank you to the 100k+ people who follow me here. I appreciate the trust. My mission has always been to help the Black community secure high-paying roles, tell their story with power, and create access where doors are often closed. Since 2019, we’ve helped 451 Black professionals land jobs in tech. I’m hoping to help even more.

I also want to be the kind of “break glass in case of emergency” resource you can call on when you need support in your career.

Today I want to use this space to bring attention to four Black professionals in my network who are delivering at the highest level.

One is running project operations in higher ed and UX, building Agile systems that cut backlog and keep teams moving.

Another has scaled people operations across large organizations, building hiring infrastructure and embedding equity into how teams grow.

A third is an engineer who has modernized enterprise platforms, led architecture migrations, and mentored developers into leadership.

And one is a technology leader who has scaled global teams, delivered near-perfect uptime, and saved millions in cloud costs.
