Working for AGA Natural Gas under Linde Group means constant development of knowledge in the gas industry as well as communicating daily in 4+ languages with our partners and colleagues who are based in Germany, the Uk, and Region North Europe.

The eCommerce team was a new project and opened AGA's three first online shops at the beginning of 2018. We were working on getting ready for the launch of an app that allows our customers to purchase their gas on the go.
Our main goal was to convert existing email/phone order customers into online order customers.
My main activities were to manage online product catalogs for each country, managing the content and keeping the SEO up to date. I also supported the work of digital marketing.

But on my trip this week, I simply couldn’t put this book down.

And I want to share it with you.

Presence by Amy Cuddy is a guide to showing up fully in challenging situations. 

What surprised me most is how relevant it is for anyone working across countries or cultures.

So much of our international work depends not only on what we know, but on how we carry ourselves, listen, and connect. Cuddy’s insights make cross-cultural communication smoother, more human, and far more effective.

While reading, I often found myself analysing my contacts' way to carry themselves - ah, people in this country must be affected by this, and the ones from that country by that, and this is why the differences appear (my mind went deeper than the obvious cultural differences).

If you’re working with international teams, negotiations, or partnerships, I highly recommend reading this book.

Mik from VAEKST reminded me there isn’t one universal answer. 

You need to consider:

 - Where are your ideal customers?
 - Which industry clusters match your offer?
 - How open each culture is to newcomers?
 - The trade-off between funnel size and decision speed

Let's be shamelessly courageous!

Lately, I have noticed many posts about burnout, impostor syndrome (let's call it experience instead, shall we?), and other situations, where people doubt themselves unfairly.

Noticed, because I could relate. 

In the past four months I was unable to work, communicate, and to function as a "normal, strong, ambitious, independent me". I was sick and I had to switch off all notifications, emails and phone sounds to stay somewhat sane.

What a disappointment I was - for people in my life, and most of all - to myself!

Long story short - to make a comeback, I quickly discovered that I needed three abilities: 

Courage, Power, and Presence. 

But how to get them (back)?

After reading a number of related books, I started digging in my past, in times where I lived like there was not a thing that I couldn't master if I only put my thoughts to it. 

That time was there, and everything I touched back then turned into gold, because I had a high self-confidence, and I had the courage to go for what I wanted. 

This image is your proof: who in her right mind shows up to an audition to be part of an epic show in even more epic Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, for the whole season, six nights a week, in front of thousands of people?

Who has that courage and self-confidence?

Me, of course. Beside two other jobs. Never been on a stage before. 

And sure enough I was chosen and I went through that once-in-a-lifetime experience with grace.

That wild experience lasted for four months, from May to September, exactly 20 years ago.

Yes, I am confident enough! 
Yes, you are good enough! You are amazing!

Just make sure you understand what made you doubt yourself, and implement the changes:

Cut down on working hours,
Re-locate,
Re-learn,
Surround yourself with new, better-fitting people…

Whatever it takes - remove the poison that twists your mind into doubting yourself.

So yes, I am back, one life-changing experience richer - positively reckless, shameless, and courageous;)

The companies that succeed in Scandinavia understand one thing:

To get to talk about their product or price, they need to understand how the business actually works here.

In Scandinavia:

- Trust is earned step by step
- Decisions are made together
- Long-term partnerships matter more than quick wins


Also: 

- Pressure almost always backfires
- Titles matter less than competence
- Silence is a space to think

The companies that adapt to this mindset save time, money, and energy. Literally.
