I am husband, father and dog dad who resides in Salt Lake City, UT at the base of the Wasatch Mountain range. My favorite pastime lately is cleaning up my house faster than my toddler can pull it apart. It emulates the project management experience I have had. My 20 year old self wanted to an investment banker so I am good with numbers, have excellent full size Tetris skills (I love packing up the car for adventures), and I can lead a cross-functional project like an Iditarod sled dog team. Running a small business like playing Twister. It's hard to take the time to step back and evaluate the board when you are tangles up and trying to stay balanced. I sold my small business, 72 Aquatics, and jumped into the game of real estate development. Real estate development reminds me a lot of my time in startups. Each new development requires a high level of creativity, problem solving and customer (generally real estate agents and the municipality) validation. My mind is always trying to reimagine the run-down buildings and lots as I drive around town. Working for a small development shop rewarded me with a wide breadth of experiences throughout the development lifecycle. I was the go to guy for deal underwriting and analysis, entitlements and project management. I find that working 40 hours a week is not enough for me, so I have a side hustle. I have been developing a medical device for the last 4 years with my lovely wife and a couple friends. The 1st device (a dry powdered epipen) failed because we were beat to the idea by a stealth startup and now we are prepping to sell the 2nd idea (a re-design of the asthma inhaler) in the next 12 months. My goal (professionally) is to create online income that is not directly tied to my time. To do this, I jumped into SaaS. The Dive Briefing, which really just started as an audience building tool to attract my ideal customer, dive shop owners, is evolving into a custom sales & marketing tool for the Scuba industry.
