My journey began in Ukraine, where I dreamed of creating beautiful things. As a kid, I thought art school would be my next big step. But life had other plans—I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area at 13, a place I call “Candy Land” for its endless opportunities. Here, I discovered that tech can be beautiful, functional, and a powerful tool for change. That discovery shaped everything I do today.

As a CEO, I’ve led a legal tech startup (which I sold to LexisNexis) and advised Fortune 100 companies and leading tech companies on how to innovate safely and law better. When Anthropic quietly hired IPO lawyers, most people focused on the valuation. But the real story is what this moment signals for everyone working with AI. A frontier lab preparing for public markets means the era of loose safety claims and fuzzy model reasoning is ending. Public scrutiny is coming much faster than most teams expect.

Here is what this actually means for you if you are building or deploying AI. The expectations around transparency, documentation, and explainability are no longer optional. Investors will demand them. Regulators will demand them. Enterprise customers will demand them. And the companies that meet those expectations early will be the ones trusted to scale.

This is the perfect moment to build the muscle most teams avoid: decision traceability. You should know who approved a model change, what data influenced it, what risks were raised, how they were mitigated, and why the product shipped anyway. You don’t need a thousand-page binder. You need systems that create clarity without slowing the team.

Another tactical shift: treat every AI capability claim as if it will be read in a future diligence meeting. That mindset alone changes how you validate performance, how you track drift, and how you collaborate across legal, engineering, and product.

I’ve been in deals where sales hesitates to hand contracts to legal, and GCs silently brace themselves. One whispered to me, “I just want to protect the company without feeling like I’m slowing everything down.”

The fear is real: “If I push too hard on clarity, buyers will think we’re inflexible. If I compromise, I look reckless.”

Here’s the tactical insight few leaders share: Treat contracts like a trust amplifier. Make legal the first signal of fairness, not the last hurdle. Independently validated clauses, transparent language, and market-aligned terms do more than protect—they accelerate decision-making, shorten negotiation cycles, and give sales concrete ammunition to close faster. Legal isn’t the brake, it’s the engine.

Three actionable ways to do this:

1.	Pre-certify your core terms with third-party validation to signal fairness upfront.
	
2.	Use clause-level benchmarking so sales can confidently defend your terms without debate.
	
3.	Turn your contract insights into conversation points; show buyers how your terms compare to market norms, creating trust before the first redline.

I keep hearing people say that Meta measuring employees on AI use is extreme. It isn’t. It’s a preview of your next performance review, whether your company admits it yet or not.

AI skills are no longer an experiment. They are becoming an expectation. And the real shift isn’t “Are you using AI.” It’s “Can we trust how you use it.” That is a much harder bar to clear and it changes what competence looks like for every profession.

For lawyers, product leaders, and anyone who makes decisions that carry consequences, this creates a new pressure point. Your edge now comes from knowing when AI creates lift and when it creates liability. Good judgment, not clever prompting, becomes the differentiator.

Here is where it gets tactical. You need a real audit trail for your reasoning. If AI played any role, you should be able to show your work in a way that protects you and the business. 

You also need a personal AI workflow that is predictable instead of improvised. Consistency is now a measure of credibility. 

And if you want to accelerate your influence, teach others how to raise their fluency. Leaders who lift the whole team will matter more than solo experts.

AI has outgrown the category of productivity tool. It is now part of your trust architecture, your training plan, your contracts, and your culture. Companies that move early will set the norms everyone else has to live with.

So ask the question every executive will bring to the table sooner than you think. If AI competency becomes a metric, are you ready for that conversation?

Half the internet napped yesterday, and everyone blamed Cloudflare.

But the real story is not that a single provider can take huge chunks of the web with it. The real story is how fast you did, or did not, reach for your contracts.

Most organizations discovered a quiet gap. Systems went down in minutes. It took hours to answer three basic questions:

What did our vendor promise? 
What happens when they fail? 
What can we actually do about it?

Here are the uncomfortable patterns I see over and over:

We negotiate SLAs like our business depends on them, then file them away where no one can find them. 

We accept service credits as if they meaningfully offset reputational damage and lost sales. 

We rely on tribal knowledge instead of market data to decide what is acceptable risk.

Outages are not just infrastructure failures. They are live fire drills for your legal and commercial readiness.

Three practical takeaways if this rattled you.

Treat SLAs as an operational tool, not a legal artifact. Your IT, legal, and business teams should all know, in plain language, what “down” triggers and who does what.

Look at the actual economics of your remedies. A month of discounted service will not fix a blown launch or missed quarter. If the math does not work, your risk is mispriced.

Measure how long it takes to get a clear answer from your contracts during an incident. That response time is as important as your technical RTO. Contract intelligence is about speed to clarity.

If this outage felt chaotic, that is not a Cloudflare problem. That is a signal about how you manage vendor risk, contractual trust, and legal debt.

Pick one mission-critical vendor and do a no-drama review of your SLA, liability, and incident clauses. Your future self, on the next bad internet day, will thank you.

OpenAI’s “code red” is the headline, but the real story for business leaders and lawyers is what happens next. When an AI company of that scale shifts priorities overnight, it creates shockwaves for every organization that relies on these systems, especially in how they negotiate, buy, and deploy technology.

Here is the part most people miss. A code red inside OpenAI means your vendor ecosystem is also about to change quickly. Models will behave differently. Performance will shift. Data flows may evolve. New features might appear before your teams have time to understand the risk. Every one of those changes has contractual implications, yet almost no one updates agreements at the same speed that AI companies update models.

If you rely on AI in your operations, here are the next order effects to prepare for. 

Expect vendor terms to change with little notice, especially around data usage and service commitments, so build a way to compare versions and catch silent shifts. 

Expect customers to ask tougher questions about how you use AI internally, so make sure the answers match what your contracts promise. 

Expect regulators to point to moments like this as evidence that companies need clear, defensible AI governance written directly into their agreements, not just their policies.

And here is the most practical step of all. Start treating your contracts as living systems that need continuous intelligence, not static PDFs you revisit once a year. 

The organizations that can monitor, measure, and update their contract positions as fast as the technology moves will be the ones ready for the next code red.
