Do you have remote work challenges?  
 
Everyone complains about managing a remote team.  
 
Nothing will replace the in office interaction.  
 
But it's still possible to have good culture with a remote team.  
 
I have ben managing remote teams for the last 10 years.  
 
People don't care about amenities like ping pong and bear taps.  
 
They care about being appreciated and supported.  
 
You can deliver on that in office or remotely.  
 
Make time for your team.  
 
Make sure you so your appreciation.  
 
And provide them they support they need.  
 
These are the things that foster good culture.

Founders can easily fall into the trap of "waiting for the right time"  
 
But guess what.  
 
The "right" time will never be here.  
 
You have to stop waiting.  
 
And get into action.  
 
No matter how uncomfortable it is. 
 
The founder life is not for everyone.  
 
And if you can't pivot fast, be decisive and get into action it might not be for you.  
 
 
Whether it's launching a new product, shipping new features, investing in yourself or building a team. 
 
It's time to get out of your own way.

If your win rate is below 50% you have a problem. 

I don't know when winning 20% of the deals in your pipeline became acceptable.

In my last role as a sales leader, we won 72% of the time. 

Why? 

We were disqualified early and we were disciplined with what buyers we decided to spend time with.

We understood that more leads were never the answer. 

Working the right leads is what will increase your win rate. 

And once you start to win more than you lose. 

Then you can throw some gas on what you're doing to scale.

Think again. 
 
You don't have a choice.  
 
Sales is mandatory if you don't want your business to fail.  
 
Just networking and referrals will only take you so far. 
 
 
You need  a mindset shift.   
 
Either go all in on mastering the art of sales.  
 
Or get a co-founder that has already mastered the art of sales.  
 
The alternative is your business will go into the abyss.  
 
I hate to break it to you.  
 
But the number one reason founders fail si lack of sales.

How often do you ask for referrals?  
 
Or a better question is.... 
 
How often do you earn the right to ask for referrals. 
 
Referrals are so powerful.  
 
Yet, so many people never ask for them.  
 
If you have just spend a sales cycle with your buyer.  
 
And gave them a good experience  you have earned the right to ask them. 
 
But don't be general.  
 
Ask for two to three referrals.  
 
And be specific.  
 
See who they are connected with on Linkedin that would be a good prospect.  
 
And if they say yes, which they should if you have truly earned the right.  
 
Forward them a simple not that can use to tee up the intro.

The biggest issue most founders have with scaling. 


Is they don’t have a proper sales system built out. 

Which means their team doesn’t have a map to follow. 

So what happens is everyone is winging it. 

No one is on the same page. 

Deals get stuck. 

Deals don’t move forward. 

Win rates are low. 

Moral is low. 

And revenue tanks or stays flat. 

What’s the solution. 

Build a good foundation with clear instructions for  👉

prospecting, discovery, disqualification, demo/pitch and how to manage pipeline.

It was my first 7 figure opportunity. 

And I was pumped. 

Untill, I had to mark it closed lost. 

I had a great relationship with the buyer. 

Which blinded me. 

And I skipped crucial steps in discovery. 

I thought I had it in the bag. 

But there was certain specs they neeeed. 

I glossed over it and didn’t realize how important is was and the reason why. 

It was the best and worst experience at the same time. 

It sucked.

I was disappointed when I found out. 

And realized why I lost. 

But it was the best learning lesson in my sales career. 

When you make a mistake like this that stings you don’t make it again. 

Loosing this deal made me a better sales person.

The most important thing in the sales process is not what you think. 


No it’s not your commission. 

No it’s not your product. 

No it’s not how much money or time you save your prospects. 

No it’s not the three logos you tell everyone about. 

No it’s not you making presidents club. 

It’s the experience you provide throughout the entire process. 

Stand out and give your prospects a experience. 

Watch your close rate go from a depressing 20% to winning more deals than you lose.

Manage your resources wisely, optimize workflows, and keep a tight grip on your finances to steer clear of common pitfalls.

Bootstrap or raise ? 

That’s the question that ever founder has.

And there is no right or wrong answer.

It depends on your goals, your market and your offer.

In my first start up I had planned to raise.

And then my wife suggested we bootstrap.

At the time we had no kids, no mortgage and our cost of living was low.

So, we bootstrapped and I’m glad we did.

This question is something you need to take your time with and make sure you make the right decision.

Often raising can be the right answer but then the next question is , when ? 

I see founders raise too early and it can create a lot of problems.

And as a entrepreneur with four kids I’m super grateful.

That I have the flexibility to prioritize family.

Striking the right balance can be tricky.

Today I planed on working. 

But my kids had different plans.

As they start to grow up I’m just grateful they still want to hang out with us.

Time is something we never get back.

So don’t forget why you wanted to be entrepreneur in the first.
