I wished to move to New York since the first time I visited.

I reached New York 20 years later. 
With the whole family, career, financial stability and much more than I have dreamed for.

Very often I get asked: "How is New York?" 
- It is fast, very very fast. 
It is exactly how I love it. 

I am constantly in a rush, often late and quite often forgetting the smaller things. Smaller things like a candy packed for my daughters lunch box or posting personal stories on LinkedIn.

We went to SaaStr in Europe in 2023. 

The event was - OK. 
I was actually pretty disappointed that it pipeline wise we did not generate that many meetings. 

We hosted a happy hour, split the bill with another SaaS company.
It was fun, but pipeline wise - not great. 

Now, having a look back on all the events we spent and hosted in the last 3 years - this one had the highest ROI! 

We spent less than $10K and closed 5 deals off that event 2 years after. All the deals took more than a year to materialise, but that's the point of events - ROI takes time for Marketing.

Give Marketing that time.

If you don't ask for it - nobody will get it for you. 

My daughter (!!) said it to me when I looked surprised not getting a desert she prepared for herself and dad. 

I was deep into my laptop work in the living room when she actually asked if I wanted some. 

I did not respond. 
So I did not get it! 
(obviously) 

But when she said it to me,  she also realised that she just dropped a piece of life wisdom at me. We did something good raising them.  Strong will, helpful and ready to stand up for themselves when needed. 

Learning for you too: if you don't ask for that promotion, raise or a task you really wanna do - nobody will give it to you. 

And even if you randomly get something good to work on - it might not be what you wanted in the first place. So ask for it!

Sales and Marketing alignment

Is not matching clothes
Is not joint parties with both teams

Shared outcomes is the only way to alignment. 

Every stage I speak on I am mentioning the same message - speak the same language, align on the shared outcomes. It has to be meaningful for both teams! 

CPC or CPA means nothing for a sales person.

Bring them quality leads that close, even a low amount of deals that convert well is so much better than a long list of deals that will not convert. 
Focus on shared metrics across your marketing initiatives.

It was really big, have a look! 

And unfortunately in a single touch attribution view, the Marketing impact in it still would look tiny.

Why is proving Marketing ROI in B2B still so hard?

The biggest challenge isn't a lack of data.
We have enough. 

Problem is: that data is all over the place.

Typical B2B customer journeys are long (average of 211 days in B2Bs) and involve multiple decision-makers interacting across ads, website visits, social media, and sales calls.

Every single touchpoint lives in a different tool, and those tools don't talk to each other. Without a single, unified view, you can't confidently connect a marketing effort to a signed contract.

The result? Wasted spend and unproven impact.

Stitching the data together in B2C is slightly easier as the journeys are linear. 
B2B's can get quite messy.
