Now the Mindstream team are working with HubSpot to build the biggest AI media brand in the world.

Biddlecombe Properties Limited 

The Property Podcast, hosted by Rob Bence and Rob Dix, and Rob Bence's various books taught me all I know about property investment. I was hooked. 

I formed my company, and set off on a journey that I plan to outlast me.

I buy new flats in high end developments through the Property Hub Invest service. I will continue to reinvest rental proceeds and cash from refinancing into new properties to grow the portfolio.

Myself and Matt Village started Mindstream in June 2023. Our goal, to create the best AI newsletter. 

I was simply obsessed with the newsletter industry. I had analysed the success of The Hustle, The Milk Road, and Morning Brew. I listened to the My First Million episode with Austin Rief 100 times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRxpcmMA548 

I was desperate to build a newsletter business. 

So, I called a meeting with my old friend Matt who working as a copywriter, and pitched him the idea of starting a newsletter.

My pitch was simple "If you can write it every day, I can grow & monetise it."

We spent a few hours coming up with the rest of the details, and Mindstream was born. 

Over the next 17 months, we got to work. 

Month 5 - we left our jobs. 
Month 6 - we got some investment. 
Month 7 - we acquired AutoGPT.net, a competitor newsletter and their founder Matic into the team. 
Month 9 - we reached 10 team members.

Fast forward to month 17, we were acquired by HubSpot, and joined The Hustle and My First Million in the HubSpot Media Network. A true full circle moment.

The wild and wonderful world of electronic component sales. I loved this job, but it was infuriating. 

I opened many doors for Ineltek, and built relationships with potential customers. I had so much energy, but I ignored warnings from my boss about the painfully long sales cycle. 

1. Find a company working on a new design project. 
2. Suggest components that could benefit them.
3. Send samples.
4. Get designed in. 
5. Do a prototype run. 
6. Design changes.
7. Another prototype run. 
8. Mass production. 

This whole cycle takes 3-5 years. 

I never reached mass production on any of my projects, I simply didn't stay around long enough.

However, I am proud of the work I did, and I left Ineltek with many active projects that one day may bear fruit.

I has just bought a house, with my partner Hannah her dog Ruby moving in. My previous job was a 10+ hour, 6 day a week deal. I wanted a job that could give me time, and routine. 

I took the job with AbilityNet, Sales Support Administrator. This was a shockingly 'normal' job, I clocked in, clocked out, made some nice friends, and that's about it. 

This new "free time" I had found myself, quickly lead to other entrepreneurial pursuits.

My first real job. 

The Covid pandemic was in full swing. I was back at my parents house in Leamington, after 4 years living in London with my band. I had just given up on my life's ambition to be a famous musician. 

I applied for 300 jobs, and got one interview. 

Sales Executive for Event Support Team, based at the Rico Arena in Coventry. 

I got the job, and was quickly ushered put out in the field, persuading land owners to rent us their land to park fan cars for football matches. During a time where fans weren't allowed to football matches. 

Once it was clear the lockdowns weren't being lifted anytime soon, I was transferred to a new project started by EST's owners. The opening of a Cash & Carry Supermarket. 

I quickly took to the task, using my creativity and ambition to gain more responsibility. 

Within a few weeks I was left in charge. I built a website with a local delivery system, a till system, inventory management, and much more whilst managing a team of shop floor staff.

I was born to be a musician. At least, that's what I thought. 

In lieu of a formal education, I spent 6 years of my life traversing the globe playing drums. 

Over 2,000 performances, many of them in the street, taught me invaluable lessons. I learnt:

How to sell my band to brides to be, corporate events, birthday parties, you name it. 
How to organise musicians and equipment to travel thousands of miles. 
How to manage finances.
How to Build a brand.

Oh, and most importantly write, record and market original music that some people liked.

Why am I not a famous musician now? 

I wasn't good enough. Simple.

Plummet or Ascend Promotions 

My first and greatest business. 

I was 14 years old, and my pop punk band Silent City were all ready for our first gig. One problem... none of the promoters in our town would book a bunch of kids with no experience. 

So, I took matters into my own hands. I hired a local venue with £200 of my own money, all I had at 14. I got some tickets printed, and sold them around my school. 

I sold 200 tickets at £5 a pop. Played my first show to a sold out audience, and walked away with £800 in profit. That night, I felt like the richest man alive. An idea was brewing...

Over the next 4 years I hosted and promoted regular shows at venues in Leamington Spa, Birmingham and Coventry. 

I regularly made £1,000 - £2,000 a night, and hosted up to 8 shows per month. 

This venture taught me more about organisation, finances and marketing than my school could ever hope to. 

An entrepreneur was born.

It worked. In October I quit my job. In December we reached 100k subs.

In October 2024, we sent our 500th edition of Mindstream to 150,000 subscribers and were acquired by HubSpot. 

Mindstream now takes pride of place alongside the incredible brands and creators in the HubSpot Media Network.

How to create LinkedIn content in minutes 

My 2024 annual review (censored): 

BUSINESS - What went well:
- I built and sold Mindstream to HubSpot. 
- I built my LinkedIn following from 25k to 150k. 
- I trained my management skills.  
- I practised being more organised and intentional. 
- I decorated my office creating a nice work space. 

BUSINESS - What went bad:
- I have prioritised growth on LinkedIn and my personal brand has suffered. 
- Despite being more organised, I'm still not very organised. 

FITNESS - What went well:
- I started running, running 800k in 2024 and doing my first marathon. 
- I had the best & most consistent diet of my life.
- I had good consistency with the gym.
- I started working with a new trainer. 
- I improved sleep & recovery through education and investment. 
- I spent most of the year experimenting with Alcohol consumption before finally deciding I was not going to drink in November. 

FITNESS - What went bad:
- I still binge eat occasionally. 
- Sometimes running & the gym have got on the way of each other. 

PERSONAL - What went well: 
- I got better at actioning things I heard rather than just consuming. 
- I bought a VW Camper van with Hannah and had so much fun travelling.
- I bought an Audi RS5 to celebrate selling my company to HubSpot. 
- I started journaling. 
- I mostly stopped biting my nails.

PERSONAL - What went bad:
- I have been disorganised with my stuff (wardrobe, bedside table, papers in office etc). 

What lessons did I learn?
- Being intentional with all aspects of life is incredibly important. 
- Success compounds, doing well in one thing will lead to gains in other things. 
- Investing time in my relationship will give me disproportionate gains. 
- I am incredibly relaxed when I am in my camper van. 
- Fitness and health are the bedrock of a happy life. 
- There’s no greater waste of time than justifying your actions to people who have a life you don’t want. 
- Everything worth doing is hard, and the harder it is, the more worth doing it is. 
- The key to success is being able to move past failure and maintain your sense of enthusiasm.
- A bias for action is a rare and incredibly valuable trait that I am proud to have.
