Your top KPI isn’t the biggest number.
It’s the one that proves your product delivers value consistently.

So how do you choose it?
1. Map your value loop.
Problem → Action → Outcome → Repeat
If you’re a meditation app:
→ Open the app
→ Complete a session
→ Feel calmer
→ Come back tomorrow
"Sessions completed" becomes a strong KPI.
Not "signups", not "time in app".

2. Check 3 boxes.
Your KPI must be:
 - Actionable. Can you influence it weekly?
 - Leading. Does it predict retention or revenue?
 - User-first. Does it reflect user success, not just activity?
Examples:
Not: "10K DAUs"
Yes: "85% users completed onboarding"
Yes: "Avg. 2 mood logs per user/week"

3. Align your bets to it.
Your roadmap, experiments, and priorities must aim at moving this one metric.
If it doesn’t impact your KPI, it’s not a priority.
If it moves your KPI - double down.
