We are a team on a mission to help young people step into the world of work with self-awareness, a clear vision for their future and a healthy perspective on work ethic, integrity and success. We do this by working with businesses on their early careers programmes, and also with educators and their students. We service the Early Careers space in a number of ways: - Delivering high energy, engaging, thought provoking workshops that lead young adults to positive personal breakthroughs. - Long term programmes that upskill young adults through a combination of in person sessions & easily accessible virtual training. With the Education sector, our services include: - High energy, engaging & interactive assemblies - Powerful in person world-ready workshops - Long term programmes which help develop the whole person, leaving them motivated, inspired and ready for the real world. Many sit and point at education as the problem & being at fault for the lack of real world preparation. Few get up and assist. With the demands from ofsted, the hectic schedule of a teacher and the sheer volume of the curriculum. It’s almost impossible for Educators to fit in lessons around self-awareness, vision, goal setting and real world preparation. That’s why we’ve been hired in by hundreds of schools UK wide & delivered our ‘Aim A Little Higher’ philosophy to over 150,000 young people from Primary, Secondary, Further & Higher Education including Alternate Provision. Who am I? My name is Kamal, I’m the Founder of Aim A Little Higher and have been serving young people & young adults for over a decade - notable achievements include: - Lincolnshire 30 under 30 - Peter Jones’ Scale Up Award Winner - Peter Jones’ National Entrepreneur of The Year - From coasting student to 7A’s & 2A’*s - Olympic Torchbearer - First full time Youth MP for Peterborough Clients have included: The Sutton Trust Greenwood Academy Trust Oasis Academy Trust Nacro Education Compare The Market National Careers Week HSBC Siemens Energy Anglia Ruskin University Manchester Metropolitan University MBDA RSA Barclays Lifeskills Talent Foundry Plus over 100 schools. Let’s book a 15 minute call to discuss your goals for the young people you work with and if we’re a good fit in your mission to help them thrive in the real world. I actually quit. 🤦🏾♂️ I know, I know, Mr Positivity, Mr Aim A Little Higher quit?! In the journey from High Potential to High Performance there are 4 phases. Phase 3 is performing ‘Better’ ✅Better than those around you ✅Better than you’ve ever been ✅Better than the average It’s a tough stage to get to, but once you’re there it feels pretty awesome! The problem is; it’s hard to be motivated to then step up to ‘High Performance’ People tend to stay and enjoy life being ‘Better’. It all comes crashing down however, once you step up into a new environment around high level individuals! This is when you lose people, things when many high flyers decide to call it a day. In essence, that step up takes you from ‘Better’ to ‘High Potential’ yet again! I’ve experienced this myself; I used to do street dance. I was not very good 😂 So, I committed to getting better: 🕺🏾Surrounded myself with fantastic dancers 🕺🏾Obsessed over YouTube tutorials 🕺🏾Practiced all the time Eventually, I got to that ‘Better’ stage. Then one faithful day; I took a trip to Nottingham and went to an amazing Jazz bar where people started dancing. I’ve never been so impressed with dancers in my life! I froze. 🥶 It got to my turn and I refused to dance, I think I even went as far as saying ‘I don’t really dance’😂🤣 From stages, 02 Arena, National competitions to ‘nah I don’t dance’ Step ups can be HUMBLING. That’s why we do what we do. With the right structure, young talent can ascend to high performance. Without it, they’ll experience a humbling and run away! 🤔 Have you ever been humbled by a step up in your career?
I LOVE all the stories I'm reading from companies celebrating their Apprentices! But... There are still huge challenges being faced by Apprentices such as: ❌ Developing Professional Relationships ❌ Transition From School To Work Life ❌ Companies Releasing Apprentices ❌ Overcoming Imposter Syndrome That's where mentorship comes in! We've dedicated our work to preparing young people to succeed in their Early Career roles and we have once again teamed up with Ebbsfleet Development Corporation to support further! Mentorship is a game changer. The opportunity to ✅ Be warned about mistakes ahead of time ✅ Have an impartial sounding board ✅ Cut your learning curve in half There are 7 Apprentices currently being supported by a fantastic initiative headed up by Lara at the EDC. This initiative gives them support, information & the opportunity to have a constant support system throughout their journey. As part of this process, we are seeking 7 mentors (Based in Ebbsfleet, Gravesend & surrounding areas) to dedicate 6 months to mentoring one of these awesome Apprentices. 🤝 We will train you 🤝 Provide monthly guidance 🤝 Feed you on the training day There's just one physical meeting with full flexibility on the 6 Apprentice interaction. We would love to hear from you, email Eliza Ellis- Hyman MSc for more information or drop me a DM! Let's make an impact together!

Today I got the opportunity to attend an incredible public talk by Kamal Ellis-Hyman from Aim A Little Higher I gained so many valuable insights. One of the most impactful takeaways for me was the importance of truly learning about yourself. In a world where everyone has an opinion on you, especially being at the end of my academic journey (sixth form), exploring and understanding who you really are is so important. Another key takeaway was realising that we’re in our prime right now we have time! Kamal stressed that we should aim three times as high as our goals, pushing ourselves beyond what we think is possible. This mindset shift is something I’m definitely taking with me as I move forward in my journey. It was such an eye-opener to reflect on how essential it is to focus on personal growth, self-awareness, and setting ambitious goals, rather than leaving it as “potential”. Kamal’s talk has given me a new perspective on the value of self-reflection, and I’m excited to put these lessons into practice as I step into the next chapter of my life. #PersonalGrowth #SixthForm #Learning #ValuableInsights #GoalSetting #SelfReflection #PrimeTime

Average is everywhere. It’s contagious. 🤢 The option to do just enough, take the path of least resistance and not cause a fuss is always there. Coasting is comfort. Average is accessible. Standards are slipping. Excuses are everywhere. 😏 What a time to be alive. Potential is untapped. Opportunity is everywhere. And with the right structure. Young people can exceed expectations. & Ascend from potential to performance. Something is coming... I'm excited.
"But I don't make any money?!" 😩 "Exactly." My Dad's parenting style was all about lessons! There seems to be a lot of temptation to create an easier ride for young people. Don't fall for it. 👀 I hear conversations where Teachers are dragging students through their exams kicking and screaming 👀 A Government suggesting lowering the bar in order to get more young people into the doors of companies 👀 Lowering expectations of young recruits in order to make their role easier Actually, true growth comes from challenge. 💪🏾 At the age of 6, we used to get to rent a video from blockbusters at the end of the week, if we'd been good! One week, there were two videos I wanted; so I asked! My Dad told me I could rent two when I had the money for two.🤯 Ouch. Really, my Dad could have just let me rent out two videos from Blockbusters; after all, I was SIX YEARS OLD!! But, had he done that, he would have robbed me of a huge year of personal development! I wouldn't have... ❌ Started my first business ❌ Gained a prize based solely off of asking ❌ Grown the courage to knock on neighbours doors to win business ❌ Had awkward conversations with people who didn't return my games/ videos on time ❌ Realised I could get my mates involved in running the shop Next time you're tempted to take the shortcut, or create a shortcut for others. ❌ Don't. ❌ Have you been on the receiving end of tough love that served you well over the long term?
Hope is lost. Urgent action is needed & it only takes two ingredients. A person who genuinely cares & a structured approach! Over the last decade, I've seen a shift. You can feel it, see it & taste it in the air. The youthful drive, optimism & youthful naivety seems to be fading. This week I delivered a session at a College. Fifteen 16-18 year olds in the room. To get a flavour for where they are at; I asked about their expectations for life. Are you expecting your life as an Adult to be: 👉🏾 Amazing 👉🏾 Average 👉🏾 A Struggle 10 said average 5 said a struggle When we dug deeper, the fears were around three main areas: ❌ Earning Potential ❌ Mundane, meaningless work ❌ True Independence How do you get focussed, exceed expectations & work hard towards a future without hope? It's no surprise, read the news, watch the social posts & see the constant fear being sold to them! There's work to do. 🤯 After working with the students, the survey showed 15 expected life to be amazing. That's a huge shift, but why! Well we explored some key ideas through our AIM Framework. ✅ Self-Awareness ✅ Clarity of Vision ✅ Emerging Trends & Opportunity It's simple, there's a plan, there's a process. We just need to start soon. P.S When you were 17, how would you have answered the question?
What's up, I'm Kamal I've been on LinkedIn for a few years now and haven't really done an 'intro' post, so thought I'd say what's up to all the new connections! LinkedIn will tell you: I'm Kamal, Founder of Aim A Little Higher & deliver personal development programmes in Schools & Organisations looking to get the best out of their young people - in an engaging, high energy (Non soppy way)! 🤔 What LinkedIn probably can't tell you is: 💍 I've been married 7 years and met my amazing Wife at the age of 19, proposed within a year and haven't looked back since ♥️ I'm a Father to three amazing Daughters so am very much out numbered at home! 🤓 I'm a Geek and once I like a subject, song, or study I obsess over that thing until I know it inside out! 💼 I accidentally became Youth MP at age 16 and left school to do the role full time because I felt like the council were taking me for a 'token' role. 🕺🏾 Growing up I could not dance to save my life, but after watching the Untouchables on stage I geeked out and eventually lead a crew to UK National Street Dance Championships where we finished 2nd two years in a row 🥊 I started boxing over a year ago just to be the worst in the room at a brand new activity & absolutely fell in love with the discipline! ⚽ I got dropped from my school football team after one game and didn't get back into the tea until SIXTH FORM! (Where I scored 5 goals in 5 games…. followed by an own goal in a final but shhhhh we won so who cares) ✒️Oh, I write spoken word poetry Mostly, LinkedIn probably won't tell you that I have a huge passion for Personal Development. It is the ultimate foundation for life and I truly believe it's the ultimate leveller in a world where our initial circumstances are a roll of the dice. After attending Tony Robbins 'Unleash The Power Within', I returned to school excited and NONE of my friends cared. 💡 So I decided this is what I want to do, bring personal development to young people in a way that's accessible, engaging and brings the ENERGY! Tell me about you! 👀
