Hi, I'm Noa. 
I used to run a $100M business unit at Google and lead the business development efforts of several startups like Hibob ($3.5B valuation) and MyHeritage, to find that my passion lies in helping startups grow, combining personal and business development.

לפני עשר שנים עברתי תקופה לא פשוטה. חברה סופר ריאלית שלי, מעשית עם רגליים על הקרקע, המליצה לי להתחיל לעשות מדיטציה. 

למען הדיוק, היא אמרה שחברה שלה הורידה אפליקציה שנקראת הדספייס והיא עושה מדיטציה/מיינדפולנס  10 דקות ביום. היא עצמה לא ניסתה.

זה היה נשמע לי ממש מוזר, הודו היפי כזה, אבל היא נשבעה שחברה שלה עורכת דין רצינית (לא הודו :)) וזה ממש  עזר לה להתמודד עם תחושות קשות.

אז בערב הורדתי את הדספייס והתישבתי בחדר חשוך וניסיתי להבין מה אני שומעת. וגם בערב למחרת.

לא לקח המון זמן עד שהרגשתי שזה עוזר גם לי, גם אם לא יכולתי להסביר בדיוק איך ולמה. המשכתי עוד ועוד. 

במשך שנים התביישתי להגיד שאני עושה מדיטציה באופן (כמעט) קבוע. חששתי שאנשים יראו בי היפית, מוזרה, רוחנית. שזה לא יתאים לתדמית המנהלת העסקית שטיפחתי.

  אחרי ה 7/10 העשר דקות ביום האלו (לא התקדמתי הרבה מאז, עדיין על עשר דקות ביום :)) החזיקו אותי שפויה ומקורקעת. בכל תקופה מאתגרת אצלי המדיטציה היא מה שתקבע אם יום יהיה זוועה לגמרי (אם לא עשיתי מדיטציה) או מאוזן (אם כן).

אני משתמשת במדיטציה גם כדי לדמיין סיטואציות שאני חוששת מהן ומדמיינת אותן מסתיימות בצורה חיובית. היא עוזרת לי להתמודד עם כאבים ואתגרים, להשאר ממוקדת, אופטימית ומלאת אנרגיה. 

בתקופות טובות אני בדרך כלל נוטשת אותה, אבל הכלי הזה זמין לי כל פעם מחדש כשאני זקוקה לו.

אני מרגישה שהשיח הציבורי השתנה, או שאני השתניתי, או שניהם - והיום אני כבר לא מתביישת בזה שאני עושה מדיטציה וממליצה לכל אחד לפחות לנסות, אולי זה יתאים גם לכם.

מי מנהל המוצר הגאון ב LinkedIn שחשב על הרעיון של לרשום אוטומטית עבורי את אותה הודעה גנרית כל פעם שאני מתחילה שיחה חדשה עם מישהו שאני מחוברת אליו?

לוקח שניה וחצי עד שכולם מכירים את ההודעה הזאת וסולדים ממנה.

הכי מעניין אותי לדעת כמה שעות נגזלו מכל המשתמשים בפלטפורמה במצטבר במחיקת ההודעה הראשונה כל פעם מחדש.

Not many people know that, but I didn't study coaching to become a coach.

I studied coaching to gain some tools to better manage my managers.

After few years in Google UK, having the "perfect" manager - supporting, challenging, feedback giving - I moved back to Israel and struggled with the founders and CEOs of the startups I worked for, who had good intentions but were overloaded and stressed.

I got disappointed and bitter - why can't they be just like my previous manager? Why don't they support me enough? Why don't they give enough positive feedback? 

I decided to study coaching to gain some tools to better manage this relationship. 

 Since then, life took a different turn, but “Managing Up” is one of the topics that I find most close to my heart, coaching many managers, especially Execs, on how to make this relationship fruitful. 

So I was super excited about the opportunity to run a workshop on managing up at WiT Exec Breakfast - sharing with them what I've learnt on the way and also gaining some new insights from other senior leaders in tech.

One of few takeaways from the session - start asking how you can help your manager instead of asking  how your manager can help you.

If you work in an environment with limited resources (which is true for almost everyone, but especially for startups and small businesses), FOCUS is your superpower.

Fewer types of customers, fewer directions to test, and fewer exploration meetings with no clear agenda.

For me, this means I only focus on the clients that are most relevant and valuable to me - Founders and executives in startups.

I am often approached by platforms interested in referring coaching clients to me - in most cases, more junior clients and for lower rates.

When I refuse, their reaction is always the same - “I don't understand, you must have some free hours, why not bill them for something?”

But I see it differently - every free hour I have, I'd rather spend building my ideal client base and promoting my business.

This approach has proven so beneficial over the years. I also make sure the startups I work with adopt the same strategy.

How do you keep your focus?

וחברות שאומרות ש א' מתועדף גבוה מ ב' - אבל המנהלים מבקשים כל הזמן עדכונים על ב' 🤔

והחלוקה לסדרי עדיפויות היתה החלק המאתגר ביותר למשתתפים, במיוחד לחשוב על "מה אנחנו לא מתכוונים לעשות" - חשיבה שרובינו לא מורגלים אליה.

אחד הדברים שהכי מבדלים אנשים שמצליחים בקריירה שלהם, וספציפית בקריירת ניהול, היא היכולת להתמקד באחריות האישית שלהם.

אנשים שלא לוקחים אחריות אישית, מרגישים כל הזמן שקורים להם דברים רעים - החברה שלהם לא מספיק מקדמת אותם, המנהלים שלהם לא מבינים אותם, העובדים שהם ירשו מפונקים, המערכת מפספסת את הטובים ומקדמת את הפוליטיקאים. 

אנשים שלוקחים אחריות אישית הם לא כאלו שמאשימים את עצמם בהכל וגם לא כאלו שמאשימים אחרים, אלא כאלו  שמבינים שיש להם אפשרות בחירה והשפעה, גם אם היא לא מוחלטת.

הם מרגישים תחושת חופש, סיפוק ושביעות רצון גבוהים יותר וקל להם יותר להניע את עצמם לפעולה ולהגיע להישגים. 

במקום להתלונן על סיטואציה מאתגרת או להתבאס ממנה, הם שואלים את עצמם שאלה אחת פשוטה.

ואם אתם רוצים להתקדם בקריירת הניהול שלכם, במקום להתבאס כשדברים לא מתקדמים כמו שקיוויתם, תוכלו להתחיל מלשאול את עצמכם את אותה שאלה פשוטה שיכולה לשנות את הפרספקטיבה שלכם  -
