Spot on - I think every founder or coach should try shipping a SaaS tool one day... You don't have to be technical or experienced... I used the YCombinator Co-founder directory to find a technical co-founder that can ship SaaS tools in return for a % equity (no need for paying for pricier agencies or software developers...) 2 weeks later: me + Tom + Jonas created Timifie - stealing the old customers from Trigify.io (because Trigify paused the job feature which so many recruiters used.) So far: - we have ~50 sign-ups in 2 months - 5+ paying customers - and that is without doing proactive "outbound" And the best part? Each customer signed up for Timifie after buying Unlock Clay and realising that: - it is hard to access job data from multiple job boards - it is hard to find job data with a native connection to Clay... Morale of this post? Worse case that happens - you just waste 20+ hours of your time. Best case - you have a complementary source of income. A few of our clients are building saas tools on-top of their coaching offers, if you're considering building something this may help you... A bit of background. OutDo works mostly with Coaches, Consultants, and Creators which we generally lump more or less in a similar bucket. Over the last 5 years this market has become enormously saturated and trying to sell coaching against a new Guru is cannibalizing the market and making it harder to stand out (short term.) So we have had clients wise up to this competition and seek solutions that are more valuable long-term for their business so they are building saas tools. What some people may laugh at is what is a coach doing building software but turns out its working out brilliantly. Why? Because the real coaches are actual experts in their field and they have a way to approach the problems in this field/niche in a way a lot of others wouldn't know to do. This group has a lens they can look through that really shows the manual faults of how these problems are being solved that I think tech founders do not understand how to look through. We are now formulating with these founders how to combine their coaching offerings with their saas offering and I think its going to be a whole new frontier to how both services are sold. And better yet, one of them even built a working v1 in a weekend... If you're a software founder - considered being a coach? If you're a coach (not just a guru) - considered being a software founder? Also - ironically so is a good friend Tim Yakubson ๐ - I wont spoil it but it has a great name and is just another example of founders being founders and finding new ways to address their market. I got tired of Linkedin recently... โ too many "clickbaity" AI agent posts โ a lot of people posting 5 times a week with random content that is copied from other creators โ seems that everyone is "generating 40+ leads within in 7 days" of working with "anonymous" clients. So I'm going to try get my 80/20 Paretto efficiency out of Linkedin from now on... Hereโs my game plan: โ Post just twice a week โ post that gets LOTS of eyeballs (think of the typical killer lead magnet post). This lead magnet will be symptomatic of the people needing our services (and I will typically repurpose the lead magnet for internal processes at B2B Boosted). โ post that talks about anything interesting from B2B Boosted & Unlock Clay Stay tuned - Iโm going to try and get 80k+ impressions from just 8 posts a month...
