As a marketer I've run hundreds of different tests aimed at making the most money I can...with as little effort as possible (I'm lazy, what can I say). 

This is without a doubt the most lucrative thing yet. 

For every email we send, we A/B test 4 subject lines.

Not groundbreaking I know but stick with me... 

Instead of testing for open or click rates like most marketers... 

We run it to the full list (25% / 25% / 25% / 25%) and see which send has the most PURCHASES after 12-24 hours. 

What's wild is one subject can pull 2... 3... even 5x the amount of sales as the others. 

And remember - nothing changed but the subject. 

Why does it work? 

Not sure. 

The only common theme is the subject that wins typically matches the call-to-action or has elements that match the call-to-action... 

So it could be "intent"... 

What makes them open, makes them click.. and buy type of thing. 

Anyways, run that split test.. 

Then once you get a winner (after 12-24 hours)...

You send the winner to your non-openers the following day and you can literally double (sometimes even triple) your sales. 

Now as you know... too many marketers are all full shiiii... hype.

Are you emailing your list enough?

Probably not. 

The reality is, more emails = more money. 

But I get it... you don't want to "annoy" your people. 

Well first off, remember:  

1) Not every subscriber reads every email. 
2) YOU get "annoyed" long before the reader does. 
3) You're not that special... people barely remember what they ate yesterday let alone your email. 

Second, if you provide valuable information that helps them solve an immediate problem they're facing... 

They won't find it annoying. 

Now, I'm not claiming there aren't any downsides to sending more emails. There are. 

Especially if your content isn't valuable or you have no new leads coming in (every email will get unsubscribes. That's how it works). 
 
But that just means you have an opportunity to get better :) 

Bottom line - send more emails.

"Value" and "good will" do not lead to sales. 

Sorry... 

I didn't make the rules. 

But I have spent countless hours doing free stuff like... 

- Coaching folks in the DM's.
- Helping people get out of spam. 
- Providing insight, value and perspective. 

Watching as a lead takes notes and says, "Wow, I never considered any of this. You really know what you're doing man. thanks!" 

And then... buy from someone else. 

The reality is value and good will do not drive sales. 

"Sales" drives sales. 

And providing value, building trust and credibility are just one (small) piece to the puzzle. 

You still gotta... 

- Understand buyers needs and desires. 
- Get in front of objections. 
- Provide a compelling offer and solution. 
- Stir up some urgency to drive the sale. 
- CLOSE 

Again, I didn't make the rules... it's just human psychology I guess.

Here's how I helped the "greatest sales team"

Close more sales: 

Okay... 

Are they really the greatest? 

I don't know but that's what they said. 

Their close rate? 

52%

With 100s of consistent leads, that's not bad... 

But I had to ask… 

“What about the other 48% you don't close?” 

Their response:

“We follow up but if our sales team doesn’t close ‘em… they either don’t have the money, can’t get the money or we’re just not the right fit…” 

Typical response from a “sales-centric” business. 

Most companies, especially ones doing well, think their sales team CRUSHES objections and does everything they can to get a sale… 

And if someone doesn’t close it’s because they’ll never buy… 

But that’s far from true. 

There's many reasons someone who is qualified AND interested in your offer might not close: 

- They don’t vibe with the salesperson. 
- They’re in a bad mood.
- They’re hungry. 
- Tired. 
- Sick.

You never know. 

But I do know… 

You can scoop up a solid percentage of those unconverted leads you paid for by simply treating them like a human, not a number. 

It’s a wild idea but we’ve been messing around with this “heart-centered” conversion tool (yeah, still working on the name but always been a hippy at heart)...

And we’re consistently getting 8%-12% of people who previously said “NO” to open up their heart (and their wallet).

Even crazier…

We’re doing it without:

- Getting them on the phone. 
- Bombarding them with follow ups. 
- Trying to “convince” them of anything. 

Instead, we:

- Shoot a quick message. 
- Get to know them & their story. 
- Discover what they're looking for and what's holding them back. 

Then we help them make an educated and reasonable decision based on their unique situation. 

All over email or DM. 

The lesson?

Even if you have the “greatest sales team in the world” you can always improve your sales process. 

Nobody closes 100% of their leads…

And there's ALWAYS folks in your pipeline who are desperately searching for a solution to the problem YOU help solve.

Sometimes they just need to send them a message and let them know you're there for them. 

You never know what you'll find.

“I do $25k - $30k/month off that… working about 25 minutes a day.”

My first thought, “Holy sh*t, she's gotta be lying.” 

And it must’ve been written all over my face because the woman I was having breakfast with, who claimed she was making $25k/m working 25 minutes a day... 

Proceeded to pull an iPad out of her purse… 

Log into Slack… 

And lay it all on the table. 

The short of it—she’s built a highly optimized system… for EVERYTHING. 

Every detail of her business has been organized into a standard operating procedure (SOP) that anyone in the company can follow. 

She's built a pretty sweet point system and daily report a manager gathers... 

Leaving her to spend 25-30 minutes a day reading through a report, looking at everyone's "points" and making a few key decisions on what to do based on the information. 

Like a smack in the face, it became apparent I have some work to do. 

Nothing in my business is systematized, there are no SOPs…

And I’m reluctant to delegate because you know… "nobody is going to do as good me."

The lesson:

As entrepreneurs there’s always a bottleneck to our growth… and it’s typically US. 

Our beliefs, habits and perceived traits (i.e. I’m not great at delegation). 

If we want to get to the next level it often takes looking at ourselves, not our business. 

So I challenge YOU to take a look at yourself. 

Ask: 

Who do I have to become to get to the next level? 

What thoughts, beliefs and habits are holding me back? 

The answers might not be apparent at first look…. But the “work” could be well worth it.

Does size really matter? 

You tell me. 

Personally, I don't think so. 

I've seen email lists with 150,000 subscribers make $20k/m... 

While a small 10k person pulls in $100k/m. 

It's not the size of the list that matters but the quality of the list. 

- Do the subscribers have high purchasing intent... or are they just looking for free information? 

- Are you attracting the RIGHT people for your offer?

- We're you able to quickly build rapport with them and lead with value-driven content? 

- Does your content resonate with your audience? 

These are all questions that can help you lead to building a highly enagaged and profitable email list... 

But unless you have these things dialed in... SIZE doesn't matter.
