    Stop messing up your external links on LinkedIn™. Most people butcher their reach, engagement, and conversion because they don’t understand how links 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 work on LinkedIn™. So allow me to provide clarity here: Do posts with external links perform worse? YES — and here’s why: 1️⃣ People don’t want to leave the platform (scroll, scroll, scroll). 2️⃣ Link-heavy posts get fewer comments (and comments fuel reach). 3️⃣ LinkedIn™ wants to keep you here — period. BUT… ✅ You CAN make external links work for you — if you know how to play it smart. Here’s the #1 question: What’s your goal? If you want CONVERSION (sign-ups, downloads, sales): ✔ Put the link directly IN the post. ✔ Accept lower reach — you’re aiming for clicks, not visibility. If you want REACH (visibility, awareness, engagement): ✔ Don’t include a link. ✔ Focus on sparking comments and shares — not pulling people away. Things you should STOP doing (today!): 1️⃣ Dropping the link in the comments — LinkedIn™ now hides them under multiple clicks once your post gets traction. 2️⃣ Editing your post later to add a link — this freezes your reach and kills the momentum. PRO TIP: Want to drop multiple links? Go for it! Multiple-link posts often perform BETTER than single-link posts — LinkedIn™ sees them as richer, more authoritative content, and they get saved more (which the algorithm loves).
