The Canadian Election - My 2 Cents There is a positive to the elections, possibly, depending on how you want to look at it. It seems, as we approach the election, each party's platform merges towards the middle. Towards a better, more prosperous Canada: Tougher on crime Unlock our economy Empower our resources While the platforms, broadly, seem aligned, each party is a bit light on details, so far. To me, then, if we appreciate the platforms and there's a level of consistency between them, it comes down to who do you trust to execute on the Platform. For me, I've come to the conclusion I can trust the Conservatives to deliver on the Platform more than I can trust the Liberals. Here's how I've come to that conclusion. The Liberals have been in power for 11 years and during those years, a amount of areas I'm concerned with went downhill: Crime Drug use Homelessness Housing affordability Canadian productivity All-in, the platform of each party is meant to reverse these trends. Again, to create a prosperous country. For the Liberals, it's largely the same team, the same ideology, with a different leader... Sure, it's possible. It's possible a different leader will change the whole party... But, how believable is that? With Values and Net Zero how likely will the Zebra change its stripes. There are still two weeks, I'm not certain. This week, I listened to Pierre Poilievre on the Knowledge Project with Shane Parrish and it showed me a side of Pierre I hadn't seen. Admittedly, I generally avoid listening to politicians, focussed on my life and what I can control, so I didn't know much about him, but what I'd heard wasn't good. Hearing him with Shane, I didn't get that. I didn't feel it and I also didn't feel the Trump energy people talk about. I heard a calm, logical and reasonable person with common sense values and ideas who wants to help make Canada better for my kids, his kids and your kids. There are still two weeks. I'll listen to the debates and hopefully Mark Carney on the Knowledge Project. What I want every Canadian to do is their own homework. Their own assessment and to determine how they want to approach this. Even more, I'd love to see us all have reasonable dialogue about what matters to Canadians, because I believe the majority of us care about the same things.
