I started my first business at 11 years old, selling door-to-door snow removal services.

Ever since, I’ve been obsessed with studying the principles of world-class salespeople, entrepreneurs and businesses.

I have had some major setbacks along the way:

- Sent to the ER as a burnt-out SDR
- Experienced my first panic attack as a BDR
- Struggled with anxiety as an AE
- And so much more…

But it’s like Rocky Balboa says, “it’s not about how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward…that’s how winning is done.”

I started applying the principles I was studying, surrounding myself with mentors, treating my mind and body with more care and executing a sales strategy that didn’t include selling my soul. 

That led me to becoming:
- The #1 performing SDR at Salesforce in 6 months
- The FY20 BDR of the Year out of ~ 200 reps
- #1 AE in quota attainment across the entire North American HLS business 2 years in a row ('21,'22)
- Qualfied for President's Club (x2)
- Selected to join the Salesforce Sales Excellence Academy (awarded to Top 10% of AEs worldwide)

In 2022 I found myself at 27% of my number almost 3 quarters into the year.

I considered quitting.

Ian Koniak challenged me to think differently, to detach from the outcome by fully committing to a plan and a process. The goal was to get to the end of the year and feel proud of how I showed up every single day, regardless of what I "sold".

So what did I do differently?

1️⃣ 𝗜 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮 𝟭𝟮-𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘁.

I started running my quarter like a project. Every week had goals, priorities, and scorecards. Every day was time-blocked around 𝗥𝗚𝗔𝘀 (𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀) - qualifying pipeline, advancing pipeline, and closing pipeline. 

If it wasn’t an RGA, it wouldn't make my calendar.

2️⃣ 𝗜 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻 “𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗜𝗡” 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗲𝘁.

I told myself, “𝘐𝘧 𝘐 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘶𝘱 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 100% 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘺, 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦.” That became my mantra. I stopped thinking and started doing. Every morning, I wrote my mission statement:

“Today I will give it my all, because when I’m ALL IN, there’s no such thing as losing”

3️⃣ 𝗜 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝗪𝗛𝗬.

It wasn’t about the commission check anymore or finishing the year above plan.

It was about proving to myself that I could stick to a plan and a process regardless of what was on the scoreboard. I wanted to redefine what winning meant to me, and not just rely on my numbers for a deep sense of self-worth.

When your why is big enough, the how reveals itself.

By the end of 2022, I was the #1 rep in our org finishing at 126% of my number.

That quarter changed everything.It taught me that success isn’t about working harder, it’s about working 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 and 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘳.
