I did a training session yesterday on Goal Setting and told them about my weight loss (100lbs and counting)!

What we’ve been taught about goal setting can sometimes stop us before we’ve even had a chance to build momentum.

Here are a few key takeaways when you’ve set a goal:

🔥 Understand that motivation is fleeting. What gets you through the down times is the consistency and discipline you’ve built up during your high motivation times.

💥 Your path will never be linear. Have grace with yourself during your journey. Be gentle with yourself for having some down days. 

🙌🏼 It takes around 42 days to give up on a goal and 60ish days to establish a habit. There is that 18 day window you need to push through to establish your habit. 

💯 Document and build your path. Be very specific and intentional. Avoid broad based activities and tasks to achieve your goals. Be as granular as possible.

🏠 Know your why. It has to be meaningful and thoughtful. It has to emotionally move you and be for you. Your goal can not be for someone else.

Goal setting can be tedious when done correctly but to succeed, you must detach from the outcome and focus on your DAILY habits.

Only focus on what you need to do for that day; one day at a time. 

Iterate and tweak as needed.

Nail your daily activities and tasks and with the right consistency, you will organically achieve your outcomes.

I don't like the word "enablement". 

I don't like to use that in my title; hence, sales transformation.

Transformation is more representative of what I do. 

The word enablement indicates a level of passivity and there is nothing passive about my approach....in anything I do in life. 

When I started with The Sales Collective, they asked me about my title, and I chose Sales Transformation, and not Enablement. 

In the SaaS world, I've noticed many sales leaders and sellers have a lukewarm feel to their enablement teams because there hasn't been much strategy and surgical precision to how and why. 

At TSC, we are changing all of that. 

We are turning enablement teams into strategic sales transformational teams. 

We are turning them into highly prescriptive data driven facilitators. 

We are turning them into strategic and trusted advisors to CRO's. 

There is nothing passive about what we do and it's about time to show it.

What impact does Sales Transformation have on businesses?

Happiness and motivation mean different things to each of us. 

You can't motivate a sales rep. 

Good sales leaders know this. 

At The Sales Collective, we recognize it's not a one size fits all approach and while you can't motivate a seller out of thin air, you can know HOW they are motivated and tailor your approach accordingly. 

We like to categorize into 3 basic buckets; intrinsic, extrinsic, and altruistic. 

Intrinsics: motivated by the recognition, the mastery, the challenges, the pat on the back, the praise. 

Extrinsics: money, toys, boats, vacations, all the external material factors. 

Altruistics: truly doing for the good of others - think Mother Theresa, Ghandi. 

Guess where most sales reps fall into? 

A study was recently done by Objective Management Group and out of 2.5M reps tested, 57% were intrinsic. 

How does your approach cater to the intrinsic? 

Are you throwing money and spiffs at these types? It won't motivate them at their core. 

Our clients at TSC want to create a culture of motivation and learning, so they start out with having their sellers take our Sales DNA test, which will indicate where they are; intrinsic, extrinsic, or altruistic. 

Remember, it can't be a one size fits all approach to motivating and helping your reps stay fulfilled, you have to know what you are targeting in each individual.
