What’s common knowledge to you… ...Could be a game changer to someone else. A few weeks ago, I was quoted in The Mirror about the Stormzy x McDonald’s backlash. Why? Because media outlets are always looking for timely, credible voices to comment on trending topics. And when something in the news intersects with your expertise... that’s your window to strike. → You don’t need to be famous. → You don’t need to force a hot take. → You just need to be well-positioned and willing to speak. The insights you think are obvious? To others, they’re gold. Media outlets are listening. (Even though the article’s a few weeks old now, the strategy is timeless) P.S. Thank you to Zoe Delaney and the team at The Mirror for the feature 🙏🏿
I’ve spent more time running my own businesses than I have been employed. Why? I kept getting rejected. At every stage of my life, the traditional path rejected me: - 11 years: Failed my 11+ to go to Grammar School because I was too ‘dumb’. - 16 years: I didn’t get the GCSEs for me to be able to go to medical school. - 18 years: I couldn’t go to a Russell Group Uni because I was too ‘dumb’. - 22 years: My 1 year in Corporate wouldn’t give me a competitive salary because my 6 years of marketing experience was ‘BS’ to them. - 23 years: I was rejected a pay rise because HR didn’t allow it for a new starter. Instead, here’s what I did: - 11 years: I began reading business books, my first was ‘The Entrepreneurial Revolution’ by Daniel Priestley. - 16 years: I started a fashion brand and learned how to market and sell. - 18 years: I decided to use my student finance my brand and essentially my real business experience. - 22 years: I began creating content on LinkedIn to build my network and opportunities - 23 years: I started OSSAI agency, a personal branding agency to help me learn from the best CEOs and Founders. So this is why I do what I do. Helping CEOs grow exciting personal brands… I probably would’ve taken the traditional path if it allowed me to. Not everyone looking to build a personal brand or a business is driven by ego, status and greed. I’m simply a young dad, who enjoys marketing, learning from elite people and taking care of his friends and family. This is probably why 93% of Gen Z have decided to start side hustles/their own businesses. Not all as middle finger to the world. But rather if you won’t help me… …I’ll help myself. 🤷🏿♂️
Everyone knows the man on the right. But no one knows the man on the left. An 8 line personal branding masterclass on the CR7 personal brand: --- Ronaldo, in 2015, sold his image rights to Peter Lim, the Singaporean businessman. The agreement? Ronaldo focuses on the football. Lim focuses on the personal brand. As a result: → 2015: Cristiano Ronaldo sold his image rights to Peter Lim's Mint Media for over €40 million. → By 2017: the CR7 brand's annual revenue reached approximately $50 million. → CR7 now offers products like clothing, underwear, footwear, fragrances, watches, and eyewear, home products and much more. --- This is arguably the most lucrative example of outsourcing personal branding. So whenever someone tells you personal branding can't be authentic if it isn't done by you... ...think again ✌🏿
Personal Branding is changing at a scarily fast rate. What worked last year WON'T work now. AI has infiltrated every aspect of the personal branding process: ↳ AI generated comments, posts and now even images. The competition to stand out is higher than ever... ...but also easier than ever. And I'm going to explain this all a week today, Thursday 20th March 2025. Super excited to be talking alongside Fiona Bradley, Jonny Rose, Stephen White on how to uniquely market yourself in 2025. Hosted by the amazing Kallum Nicholson! Details are here, tickets are donation based so set your own price and head down. (Manchester, UK... sorry! I'm sure we'll have a recording uploaded online) https://lnkd.in/e5hNefTA See you all next week!
Dear diary, today’s day 1,103 of running OSSAI. Here’s what I wish I knew on day 1: → Stay patient. → Build systems as you go. → Don't lose sight of your purpose. → Trick your brain to enjoy the hard work. → Enjoy the difficulties, there's a lesson in it. → Believe half of what you see and nothing you hear. → Don’t overthink the big stuff, but sweat the small details. → What’s common knowledge to you is a game changer to others. → Understand business is more like politics than you think. Relationships. → If you don’t properly price yourself, you’re LYING to people about the value you can provide, know your value. → If all else fails you’re going to build a personal brand and black book of contacts that will lead you to your next opportunity. I hope this helps someone who’s at day 1 or better yet... day 0 🙌🏿 📸: Recent meetings with clients working on a deal with Manchester United 🤩 I like this job lol
80% of viral posts on LinkedIn tend to have a Lix score of 30 and below. For those that don't know: It's a measure used to determine the complexity of a text. (Think Hemmingway) It takes into account: The number of words The number of long words (words with more than six letters) The number of sentences in a given text. Here's what your score means: 25-30: Children's books 30-40: Easy to read (e.g., fiction) 40-50: Standard (e.g., non-fiction) 50-60: Difficult (e.g., academic papers) 60+: Very difficult (e.g., legal documents) Minimise the brain power needed to read a post... ... and the better it'll perform. Test the Lix of your most recent LinkedIn post in the comments. Post your score down below. (This one was 27)
I've worked with a few US Founders on their personal brands this year. (One is actually the cousin of Kanye West 🤯) And I can tell you with 1000% confidence... The way Personal Branding is embraced in the US vs the UK is insane. Business UK culture hates individualism, whereas the US celebrates it. 🇺🇸 US Founders mindset 🧠 → Go big or go home. → Invest fast, fire fast. → High-risk tolerance. 🇬🇧 UK Founders mindset 🧠 → Slow and steady wins the race. → Months of due diligence before investing. → Low-risk tolerance. There's a reason the largest companies in the world are based in the US and not in Europe... Mic drop 🫳🏿🎤
No one has ever regretted building a personal brand. EVER. I’ve walked into many rooms I'm beyond lucky to be in and worked with entrepreneurs at every stage: → Solopreneurs → Six-figure revenue with teams up to 10 → Seven-figure revenue with teams up to 25 → Eight-figure revenue with millions in seed round investment. We've worked with Founders in all spaces too: → Tech → Media → Marketing → Finance → PR The list goes on... Every single one has seen the value of investing in their personal brand. It’s not about outsourcing your personal brand to get external support. It’s about: Building a SYSTEM that can allow you to: → Producing content in your authentic tone of voice at scale. → Building credibility and trust. → Generating leads and new business opportunities. Your personal brand is an asset that grows with you, no matter where you are in your career. What’s the most surprising benefit you’ve seen from building your personal brand? Share your experience below! PS I'm working on a AI tool for a founders who want to grow their personal brands - DM me to join the alpha waiting list!
Your mind is your biggest asset. (Or your biggest enemy) I’ve had moments where I doubted everything in my 3-year journey of OSSAI. → “What if I fail?” → “What if no one believes in me?” That inner voice almost stopped me from taking opportunities that could have changed my life. But here’s what I’ve learned: → Your mind plays tricks on you... don’t believe everything it says. → Focus on what you can control, not what could go wrong. → Self-discipline is the ultimate antidote to doubt. Every day, I work to quiet the negative self-talk. Because if you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will. 🫶🏿
