Who you serve is a choice. Never undervalue yourself.


Why 90% of entrepreneurs fail.

“Do you see that wall?”

“Paint it white.”

My boss yelled at 7 AM.

“Is this what will become of my life?”

Went through my mind while dipping the brush in the bucket.

Something snapped. I looked at him. And said:

You know what? Fuck this.

I quit.

Before I knew it, I was on my way back home.
​
A huge smile on my face.

Seconds later, I realised what I had done.

I quit my job, and now what?

Little did I know that 15 years later, I would have my own company, a team of 7 people and $10M in sales in 4 years.

But it did not happen overnight.

I’ve failed a lot.

Let me share the most important lessons I learned from my journey of selling seven figures in courses.

Start small

Don’t get me wrong, I love big goals.

But…

Be smart and cut them up into small parts. This is how you do it.

- Set a time frame of 90 days.
- Pick three big goals.
- Divide each goal into two parts. (2 week sprints)
- No, divide the two weeks into tiny daily goals.
- Execute your daily goals.

You’ll fail miserably if you try to finish your 50 items daily to do list.

Make it small, one thing at a time.

Listen to your audience.

Always follow the signal and you'll do great in your business.

Join a PAID community.

There are many communities online.

Most of them are free.

3 ways of making more money with your course.

I was working as a cameraman.

We were shooting a race with 20 millionaires from Holland.

The great thing was that I had conversations with Holland’s wealthiest individuals.

One of the most valuable lessons I learned from Mr Wong.

A self-made millionaire who owned half of Amsterdam.

“Uhm, do you mind if I sit here?” I asked Mr Wong.

“Of course. Sit down.”

Do you like wine? He said.

Wines of $2000 a pop kept on coming.

We started talking…

“How did you make so much money?”

Do you want to know my secret? He said, slightly tipsy.

“Always repackage your service and sell it for a higher price.”

Little did I know that Mr Wong’s advice would make me financially free decades later.

I launched a successful course.

But after a few months, sales went flat.

Then I thought about the conversation with Mr. Wong.

Back then, it made no sense to me.

But suddenly, it all clicked.

Let me introduce to you, dear Chiller, The Wong Principle.

Offer a continuation program.

Look, you have your course.

And it takes your client from A to B.

But…

B is not the end destination.

It’s time to offer a solution that takes your clients to C.

I did this:

Original course: Making 3K a month with e-commerce while you sleep.

Price: $997

Second course: How to scale your E-commerce business to 25K a month.

Price: $1499

But there is so much more you can do…

Add extra services.

From client interviews, I learned that there was a need for extra guidance. So, the next logical step was to add coaching.

And so I did…

I made a deal with my top students if they were interested in coaching.

I charged $2500 for ten coaching sessions and gave 30% to the coaches.

What started with a 1-course offer of $997 ended in 3 different offers.

Online events.

People love to hang out with like-minded people.

It was during the pandemic I discovered online events. Everybody was locked inside.

It was time for an online event to connect with my clients.

I had done a few live events, so I understood how it worked.

Now, I was forced to organise it online.

We sold the event in two tiers:

*$ 499 Basic event *$ 799 Basic event & After party and Q& A with the speakers.

When you like to make more money with what you know, think about the Wong Principle:

“Always think of ways to repackage your service and sell it for a higher price.”

Courses are not sprints; they’re marathons.

Pro tip: Play on their desires and outcomes, not on the features of your course.

There's this little simple trick, it's called tracking your time.

This is how it works:

* Write down every daily task.
* Track the time for each task.
* Get rid of all the fluff tasks (You'll know which one to cut)​

Now before you get medieval on my ass. (Don’t you just love classic movies? pulp fiction is my old time favourite.)

And say I heard this all before. I get that.

but the funny thing is that most people never take action.

Even when they known what to do.

Now that’s out of the way, let move on.

It all boils down to planning.

Try to plan one task a day and after 365 days your life will change.

Give it a go, and you will see the change you need.

​There is a flaw in the way we learn.

You see, our school system teaches you to study theory. ​

It forms a habit that you’ll keep forever.

Habit will not serve you when you want to build a business.

You do research.

And when you have gaps in your teaching, you study.
​
Creating a course on branding is making you better at branding.

But it does not stop there…

When you start explaining branding to more people,

you get a deeper understanding.

​It’s time to put this all into action.

The Learn Earn paradox.

1. Write down everything you know about your topic.
( Writing is a great way to get the basics on paper)

2. Find five people to teach your skill 1 on 1.
(You will refine your program based on the interaction with your first clients)

3. Charge your clients with a 50% discount. (You create the best learning environment because people value content more when they pay for it. It is a win-win for the teacher and the client. Both will learn)
​
4. Record every session. (This is the base for your future course. And it serves as learning material when you like to revisit parts)
​
5. Now, build a simple video course and sell it. (You can learn from the masses. It’s funny how clients can give you a deeper understanding of your program through questions)
​
6. Keep improving based on your client's feedback. (While you improve your program, you increase your knowledge)
​
7. Raise the course price. (You’ll learn an important lesson. How to ask for money. Money-changing hands will grow your business and improve people's lives. Another win-win)
​
8. Rinse and repeat. Keep working on points 1 to 7. (One of the best ways to learn is through repetition. We came the full circle of the Learn Earn Paradox)

We cruised alongside the coastline of Nusa Penida.

A stunning sister island next to Bali.

We were going to Manta Point to do a free dive with the manta rays.

An experience you should have at least once in your life.

But on our way, I couldn’t help but notice that the boat was leaking.

The boatman watched me, looking at the water coming inside the boat

It’s nothing, my friend, he said.

I was trying to distract thoughts of me swimming to shore.

I started thinking about my friends.

Before I try to share my weird thought process.

Let me give you some context.

You see, your friends are a direct reflection of your income.

They say you’re the product of the five people around you.

And I can confirm that to be true.

That said, let’s go back to my twisted mind.

Imagine your friends are like a boat.

Poor friends are like holes in the boat.

They leak energy, motivation and opportunities.

On the other hand…

Great friends are like having a speedboat.

One with a nuclear-powered jet engine Oppenheimer would be jealous of.
​
You will fly over rough waters with ease.
​
And you’ll find success and financial freedom.
​
This may be a weird example, but I like you to take a minute and think.

It’s the friends without ambition and negativity that will keep you poor.

Now, does this mean that you need to fire your friends?

Of course not.

Real chillers love to hang out and have fun.

Life is about living.

But when it comes to business, you need great people around you.

Friends who motivate and stimulate you.

People who have done what you’re about to do with great success.

But who are crazy and like to have fun at the same time.

That will change the course of your journey.

In the end, a business should be fun and profitable.

It shouldn't feel like a job.
