In one brilliant exercise, we see the damaging effects of: -In group/out-group bias -Confirmation bias -False Consensus -Moral Panic -Solomon Asch's Conformity experiments Remember that the government doesn't have to create new laws to control a society. They just need you to hate your neighbor so much that you'll do it for them—and the most powerful tool to accomplish this goal is the media. Very often, the way the media reports a story has so much slant and bias that it's effectively a lie. You have to start training yourself to notice when your favorite media sources are playing you to get you afraid, agitated, and, ultimately, profitable to them. And in case you didn't know, news outlets make money from advertisement dollars in a CPM model. You don't even have to click on the ad, although it still influences your psychology and buying decisions. They need you to stay glued to the screen, and the best way to ensure that you do is to hijack your negative emotions. This is why you have to start using something like Ground News. Ground news compares the headlines and biases in several different news sources, even tells the credibility of a source, who owns it, and even tells you the news's sources' bias rating. They even tell you what percentage of the coverage is coming from which side of the political spectrum because the stories that *aren't* covered tell you far more than the ones that are. Try Ground News using my sponsored link below and get 40% off their Vantage Plan. Not only is it extremely affordable, but it's also 100% user-funded, so Ground News is able to completely avoid any outside funding so they remain agenda-free. The most powerful belief you can hold is that, given enough time and motivation, you can learn anything. After I watched myself go from a clumsy brawler to a somewhat skilled national champion-caliber boxer, I figured that if I had done this with my body, there was no reason I couldn’t accomplish the same with my mind. So now I had the confidence to approach math because I no longer believed I wasn’t a math person. Instead, I started to see myself as a person who could, if I worked hard enough, could master math. https://lnkd.in/gPx4Nsh3
If we take everything in this essay together, we can say that the best way to learn faster boils down to three core ideas: -Well begun is halfway done. Or, if you prefer, measure twice, cut once. -Shortcuts are the longest way to do anything worthwhile. The only real shortcut is the scenic route. -Don’t practice until you get it right. Practice until you never get it wrong. Then, practice some more. https://lnkd.in/en5eAgJt
Most of the things you worry about are programmed into you by the media. No matter which side of the political aisle you sit on, your favorite news outlet uses fear and anger tactics to keep you engaged. An emotionally aggravated person is easier to control and profit from. This is why I only get my news from Ground News. They let me see how many outlets are covering a story, the political bias of those outlets, and—most importantly, in my opinion—who isn't covering what. Use my link below to check them out, and if you sign up, get 40% off the already affordable Vantage plan. Yeah, this is a sponsored post, but believe me when I tell you there ain't a lot of money in promoting a news aggregate that actively fights polarization and biases. I've been using them for years, and I reached out to them to promote their service. I believe in it that much. https://lnkd.in/gv_iJUjd
I don't care if your opinions lean to the left or right. I just care if they are grounded in facts. I'm not saying you need to defend your emotions.—how you feel is how you feel. Just make sure your feelings are triggered by the correct information. Never forget that the news is in the business of keeping you agitated, afraid, and confused. This works especially well if you're already biased towards the conclusion. There's also great variation in the headline depending on the goal of publication, and it's a nastily dishonest tactic How something is covered is important, but I think even more powerful is knowing who isn't covering something. When a publication claims to deliver the news, a big sign they're full of shit is what they decide to NOT cover. And for full transparency. This is a sponsored post, but I reached out to Ground News because I take clear thinking seriously. Anyone who has been following me for a while knows that I can't stand extreme thought, polarization, and shitty logic, even if I agree with the point being made. If you want to free your mind from toxic media profiting from your fear and ignorance, sign up for Ground News App by using my link below and get 40% off their Vantage plan. They're already affordable anyway, but that helps even more. https://lnkd.in/gv_iJUjd
People assume that the reason you voted for someone is the same reason they didn't. That type of thinking... Especially in American presidential elections, where there are effectively only two choices... Immediately polarizes and shuts down critical thinking, curiosity, and compassion.

Today I'm 40. I started my life in the projects, didn't graduate high school, and became a stone-cold alcoholic making so little money I was stealing food to survive. Eventually, I went on to be a standout Golden Glove-winning and national champion boxer, got signed by Roc Nation Sports as a professional, served in the military, got a degree in physics, and met the woman of my dreams along the way—and now said woman and I—who have lived in Portugal because she's born and raised in Portugal—have a kid. I'm also just finished my first book to be published by a major publishing house about my life, titled "Hard Lessons From The Hurt Business: Boxing and The Art of Life." It's been a wild ride, and I'm happy to be celebrating 4 decades on this planet and 40 trips around the sun. Still, I would have avoided a lot of crazy women, addictions, and financial mistakes if I had someone in my life to tell me the 27 things I'm about to share with you that I've learned along the way.
One of the best uses of your time on this planet is to help others learn from your mistakes. And if it’s too late to do that, then at least show them how you managed to keep going afterward.
