You don't need another cup of coffee. You need a better job. You're not lazy. You're not "just tired." You're in a job that takes more than it gives. Here's the truth: Good jobs energize. Bad jobs deplete. I used to work a cubicle data entry job. I clocked in at 9 am and clocked out at 5 pm. I had no energy before or after work. Then, I worked at Uber in the early days. I got into the office at 8 am and left many days at 11 pm. I had more energy than I'd ever had in my life. Want to feel human again at 9 am? Look for work that fills your cup, not empties it. When did you know your job was draining you? Drop it below. 👇 Let's talk about it. ♻️ Repost to remind others work doesn't suck 🔔 Follow Kyle Thomas for more

I tried to join the early Uber Eats team. My rejection is a lesson to all job seekers. Let me take you back to 2016. I’d spent 4 years scaling Uber across the tri-state New York, New Jersey, Connecticut. Launches were my thing. Fast, messy, high-stakes. I loved it. But once Connecticut was live, things got... predictable. I wanted more. I needed a challenge. Then I heard Uber Eats was hiring. Food delivery didn’t excite me. But a Senior Operations Manager title did. I applied. Round 1: ✅ Round 2: ✅ Final round: ✅ Then the GM called me into a glass conference room. He closed the door. Paused. And said: “Kyle, we think you’d be great in this position. The team loves you. But… we’re not going to offer you the role.” I was stunned. He continued: “You're a strong operator - no doubt. But you’re clearly not excited about what we’re building. And that matters.” He was right. I didn’t care about Eats. I cared about the promotion. And they 𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘵 that. There was something weird about the rejection. It felt like a sigh of relief. I wasn't going to need to pretend to be interested. It was one of the "best" rejections I've ever received. It gave me space to launch Uber in Upstate NY. Then launch and lead operations at JUMP in NYC. Both of which accelerated my career and I loved doing. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀: Getting interviews but no offers? Ask yourself: • Do I truly want this role or just the title & resume clout? • Would I be excited about it if no one knew I had it? Hiring teams are BS detectors. If your enthusiasm is performative, it shows. And in early-stage roles, real buy-in is everything. 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿? What did it teach you? ♻️ Repost to help others 🔔 Follow Kyle Thomas for more

I used to downplay my expertise in interviews. I assumed my insights were “obvious.” Then I realized something... What’s obvious to me is invaluable to others. No one has... • Obsessed over what I've obsessed over • Experienced what I've experienced • Followed what I've followed • Lived what I've lived • Built what I've built This is called the Knowledge Complex. I see it ALL THE TIME. Especially in high performers and experts. You’ve been doing something for years. You're an expert. And that's when it all starts to feel like common sense. You assume everyone knows what you know. You skim over the details. You leave out the insights that make you stand out. And that’s a huge mistake. ❌ That “small” improvement you made? ↳It could be a game-changer for them. ❌ That “basic” strategy you follow? ↳It might be exactly what they need. ❌ That “obvious” lesson you learned years ago? ↳It could save them months of struggle. Your knowledge isn’t obvious—it’s valuable. Here’s how to make sure you don’t undersell yourself in interviews: ✅ Speak to your audience's level of knowledge. ↳ Don't assume they know what you know. ✅ Break it down. ↳ Explain it clearly, with no acronyms or jargon. ✅ Show your thinking. ↳ Your process is just as valuable as your results. ✅ Tell the story. ↳ Don't just list skills, share real examples of impact. Stop assuming they know what you know. Own your expertise. Share your insights. Don't hold back. Be the expert they need. Have you ever caught yourself downplaying what you know? Let’s talk 👇

Deepfakes, AI scams, CEO voice fraud. This hiring startup raised $43M to survive it all. At my last startup, I remember getting a text. It was from the CEO. He needed something. It came from a number I didn't recognize. The request was fishy to say the least. Something about buying gift cards. I immediately shot the CEO a Slack and asked... "This you?" It wasn't him, and we dealt with constant scam attempts on our employees for the next few years. Adaptive Security just raised $43M in a round co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and OpenAI’s Startup Fund to stop my story from happening to others. This is OpenAI’s first-ever cybersecurity investment. And this isn't your typical security company. They create AI simulations that mimic real attacks: • A fake email from the CEO • A hyper-personalized phishing text • A deepfake voicemail asking for a wire transfer Your team gets hit with realistic simulations. And get trained in real time to spot them. It’s a cyber boot camp for the modern era. And it’s already working: → 100+ enterprise customers in months → Clients like Podium, First State Bank, BMC Software → Even the Dallas Mavericks use it to train their team The Co-founders have a proven track record of success. Brian Long and Andrew Jones previously created... Attentive: A $6.97B mobile messaging platform. TapCommerce: A $100M mobile-retargeting company aquired by Twitter in 2014 With an additional $43M in the bank, they’re expanding: → R&D (deepfake call detection, incident triage tools) → Security research and AI engineering → Customer success & onboarding If you're interested, now is the time to get in. They're hiring for 15 roles in NYC, SF, LA, and remote in: • Customer Success • Engineering • Marketing • Recruiting • Finance • Design • Sales With top roles posted like: • Head of Revenue Operations • VP of Sales VP of Finance • Head of Sales Enablement AI criminals will arise. You can defend the digital world from their attacks. Go get that job and build something awesome 💪 — P.S. I'm not a recruiter for these companies. I'm just raising awareness of top companies with open roles. 🔔 Follow Kyle Thomas for more ♻️ Repost to help others find their dream job

They thought I was crazy. “You’re doing free work?” “You’re being taken advantage of.” “That’s not how job hunting works.” 3 months later, I landed an offer from my dream company—before the role was even posted. Here’s a secret of how the best are standing out in a crowded job market: 🧠 Deliver value before you’re even hired. Most candidates rely on resumes. Some go the extra mile with cover letters. But what about the winners? They solve problems before they’re asked. Here's why delivering value works: ✅ Shows you're proactive ✅ Solves real business challenges ✅ Builds trust faster than a resume ever could ✅ Creates a sense of reciprocity ✅ Makes you unforgettable And yes—sometimes it looks like free work. But when done right? It’s strategic. It’s creative. It’s what turns cold calls into job offers. 💡 Examples: • A tailored 30-60-90 day plan • A case study on how you’d solve a real company issue • A personal pitch deck showing why you’re the best fit • Following up after a recruiter call with a resource they mentioned in passing Even a Loom thank-you video with high energy and real gratitude can tip the scale in your favor. It’s not about doing more. It’s about doing what no one else is willing to. 🛠 Want a checklist to create your own value deliverable? Drop a “✅” and I’ll send it your way.

Here are a few things I'm seeing in the job search today: 1. It's incredibly competitive. I've spoken to people with 2 years of experience. I've spoken to people with 22 years of experience. They're both running into the same issues. Lower job openings. Less company funding. More layoffs are adding more job seekers. It's more important than ever to do the following: 1️⃣ Get focused on exactly what you want to do next. 2️⃣ Lean heavily into your network and cold outreach. 3️⃣ Do whatever it takes to stand out in the process. 2. It might feel lonely, or you may just feel alone. Some people feel lonely. Others might just feel alone. What's the key to overcoming those feelings? Community. Get around other badass job seekers to understand: 1️⃣ You're not alone in the search. 2️⃣ Highly qualified people are having similar issues. 3️⃣ It helps with accountability to have others around. 3. The job search is hard. It's a mistake to go in thinking, "This will be easy." That's a great way to be disappointed. Disappointment can kill momentum. Instead, I recommend going in knowing: 1️⃣ It's going to be hard. 2️⃣ It's going to take work. 3️⃣ You're committed to doing whatever it takes. 4. People are still landing great jobs. The average job search in the US is 5-8 months. I've seen people land jobs in a matter of days. I knew immediately that their job search would be short. How did I know that? 1️⃣ They joined our Early Accelerator. 2️⃣ They immediately started doing the work. 3️⃣ They jumped into 2x mock interviews their first week. The job search is hard, but it can be less awful if you approach it correctly. Clarity - on where you're going Committment - to doing whatever it takes Consistency - to continue the momentum Connection - to expand your area of opportunity Community - to show you you're not alone Competition - to do whatever it takes to stand out That's the winning formula.

Procurement isn’t sexy. Until you save $10M with AI. This hiring startup just raised $33M. LightSource just raised a $33M Series A co-led by Bain Capital Ventures and Lightspeed. They’re building something every ops leader dreams of. An AI copilot that handles: • Sourcing • RFPs • Supplier discovery All the painful stuff. So far, this has resulted in... • 30–50% faster sourcing cycles • Millions saved on parts • Procurement teams sleeping better at night Their vision is to make procurement as scalable and smart as your product stack. The founding team is solid: Spencer Penn (Forbes 30 Under 30, ex-Tesla)       ↳ Felt the pain sourcing Model 3 parts via email Idan Mintz (ex-GoogleX)       ↳ Built products in AI + automation They teamed up to fix the chaos with an AI-native platform that: → Finds suppliers → Automates RFQs → Analyzes quotes → Parses PDFs and messy data with ease They have lots of traction: • Already processed over $1B in procurement spend. • Are used by 5,000+ companies in 40 countries. And now they’re hiring for 5 roles in: • Customer Success • Customer Support • Engineering • Product • Sales In SF, Boulder, Seattle, Denver — and remote. Looking to help rebuild global supply chains with AI? This is your shot to reshape a $10T+ industry. Go get that job and build something awesome 💪 — P.S. I'm not a recruiter for these companies, just trying to raise awareness for top companies with open roles. 🔔 Follow Kyle Thomas for more ♻️ Repost to help others find their dream job P.P.S For everyone using the new ChatGPT image generator, keep a close eye on the images it produces. I tried to use it to create images similar to the ones I create in Canva, but it distorted the founder's faces and the logo. Lesson learned: double-check for hallucinations in both text and image.

You may be terrified of posting on LinkedIn, but... Just look at what 3 posts did for this job seeker. Here's what happened... • 3 LinkedIn posts (2 of which were reposts) • 2,364 people saw his posts in less than 1 week • 13 networking calls booked with old colleagues • 1 networking call with an ex-Google seed investor • 1 networking call with a Director of Sales at Amazon That's all in less than 1 week. Imagine what will happen over a month. If you're too scared to post on LinkedIn... I get it. I was too. You think... "But what will people say?" The Answer: Nothing They're too busy thinking about themselves. You'll be surprised at how many people praise you. Many people will reach out looking to connect. You ask yourself... "What will I even talk about?" The Answer: Write to yourself two years ago. What do you wish you would have known? What do you find interesting today? What are lessons you can share? You don't need to go viral. You just need the right people to see you. Visibility is a competitive advantage in the job search. Visibility creates opportunity. Do whatever it takes to get more eyes on your profile. Start showing up. ♻️ Repost to help others get over the fear of posting 🔔 Follow Kyle Thomas for more

Getting hired at a top startup isn't about your resume. It's how you make the team feel. Top performers don't just apply. They make the hiring team think: "Wow, this person already feels like part of the team!" To do that, they go all-in on their: • Networking outreach • Applications • Interview prep Here's what that looks like... 1️⃣ Deep research into the company and its people. They consume all the interviews with the founders. • They know the founding story • They know the language they use • They know what the team cares about • They know the priorities of the company • They know how they talk about their customers They research each interviewer like a podcaster. • They know the jobs they have had • They know where they went to school • They've found similarities in their backgrounds • They know how long they've been at the company • They know how this role will impact each interviewer The more they research the easier it is to turn the interview into a conversation. 2️⃣ In-depth practice for each interview stage. They don't just wing it in the interview. • They craft answers and rehearse them out loud • They proactively identify hiring manager doubts • They identify ways to proactively remove doubts • They do mock interviews with friends or coaches • They use AI to come up with questions to practice They want to go through as many simulations of the game as possible before they're put on the field. Live practice with feedback trumps all other practice. 3️⃣ Delivering value before, during, and after interviews They proactively identify creative ways to showcase • Skills • Network • Experience • Ability to drive impact • Interest and excitement in the company They do this by sending value deliverables like • Personal pitch decks • 30-60-90 day plans • Case studies • Connections • Playbooks They compete on generosity and try to deliver as much value as possible to demonstrate their abilities. 4️⃣ Going above and beyond with outreach and follow-up Everyone sends thank you emails (hopefully). Almost no one sends • Testimonial videos from your network • Thank you videos • Follow up value Things like that are little ways to stand out to the team. "But won't it look like I'm desperate or trying too hard?" 𝗡𝗼, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘁. Founders love it (see Replit's founder Amjad Masad commenting below) Recruiters love it Hiring managers love it It won't only help you land the job. It'll help you earn instant credibility and attention. Want to stand out? It's not about doing what's 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱. It's about doing what's 𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱. What’s the most “over-the-top” thing you’ve done in an application or interview? Drop your story in the comments 👇 — 🔔 Follow Kyle Thomas for more ♻️ Repost to help others find their dream job.

If you’re on the job search here’s a tip: You’re probably not talking to enough people. People you know. People you don’t know. People in your industry. People in other industries. People who have your job. People who have other jobs.. People who are in your same shoes. People who are further in their career. When I was job searching, my goal was to have as many conversations as possible. Thorough those conversations you… Get practice talking about what you want. Learn what resonates in your story. Build confidence in yourself. Gather helpful resources. Earn useful connections. . Make you goal to have 100 conversations with people you’re interested in Good things will come.

Landing a dream job is hard. Don't recreate the wheel. Use these 5 tips from someone who's done it. There's two ways to go about your startup job search. Hard Mode • Stumble your way through on your own. • Make all the mistakes for yourself. • Learn from those mistakes over time. Easy Mode • Become a student of job searching • Find others who have landed incredible opportunities • Copy their method, avoid mistakes, & get there faster Shaan Puri went from Silicon Valley outsider to CEO. Here's the advice he gives for landing your dream job... 1️⃣ You've got to be prepared to talk about yourself You will be asked: • "Tell me about yourself." • "Tell me about a time when..." Amateurs list events. Masters tell a story of transformation. Your story should make them say, "We need this one." 2️⃣ You've got to be prepared to talk about the company Sure, everyone reads the website. Want to stand out? Go deeper: • Have an informed opinion • Ask great, insightful questions Pro tip: Create a value deliverable to showcase exactly how you'll help them win. 3️⃣ Turn the interview into a brainstorm Treat it like a collaborative session. • Diagram your ideas on the spot. • Show them how you think and work.    This works best when: • You've practiced enough to be confident. • You've done your homework on the company.    4️⃣ Keep your follow-up game strong Don't just send a thank-you note. • Send an email or video • Make sure it's relevant, interesting, and/or helpful Show them you're still thinking about how to solve their problems. 5️⃣ Remember it's a two-way street You're not begging for a job. Every part of me wanted to quit. But now I know: Before something great happens, life gets brutally hard. I've seen it in my own journey. I've seen it in all the people I've admired. I've seen it in every successful person I've worked with. Before the wave hits the shore, the water pulls back. That's the moment we misread as failure. In reality, it's preparation. It's the universe carving out space in you... So you can hold the thing you're asking for. And here's what that pullback looks like: • Sleepless nights • Doubt creeping in • Stressed relationships • Opportunities going cold • Feeling like you're in reverse I've felt that. 𝗜𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟯 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: I couldn't get an interview, let alone a job. I was about to run out of money. I took a job I knew I would hate. The next week, I landed a job as Uber's 250th employee. 𝗜𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟬 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: I was unemployed during the pandemic. I was juggling a 2-year-old, a newborn, and a job search. I was rejected by DoorDash & Bird (easy wins I thought). 30 days later, I landed a perfect startup VP role. 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 Early: I started a business and had a 3rd baby in the same year. I was burned out, hospitalized, and thought I'd quit. A career coach I respect told me to keep going. The next month was our biggest month ever. I've now seen this pattern enough. When these signs show up - I pause. Instead of spiraling, I tell myself: "What a pleasure." Because I know what's on the other side. So, if you're in the middle of it right now... Don't resist the pullback. Let it happen. You're being shaped. You're being made stronger. The wave is coming. ♻️ Repost to help others 🔔 Follow Kyle Thomas for more
