This is my office for today: A rooftop cafe in Kigali, Rwanda.

And honestly, I'm still pinching myself.

4 years ago I was stuck in a draining office-based job.

Same desk, same view, same routine every single day.

I dreamed about working from anywhere but never thought it was actually possible.

"That's for other people," I told myself. "People who are luckier than me."

When I first started my LinkedIn personal branding business, I was terrified to leave my desk.

What if clients needed me immediately?
What if something went wrong?
What if I looked unprofessional?

But then I realized something.

My best work doesn't happen when I'm chained to the same spot every day.

It happens when I'm inspired. When I'm experiencing new things.

When I'm meeting new people.

This morning I had three client calls from this rooftop.

The connection was perfect. The work got done.

The clients were happy.

And I got to watch the sunrise over Kigali while doing it.

The hidden cost of staying invisible on LinkedIn:

(even if you think you don't need it)

1. You're missing out on opportunities you don't even know exist.

Advisory roles, board positions, consulting gigs go to people who are already visible. When decision-makers need someone, They think of names they see regularly.

2. Your expertise dies with your current role.

You've built decades of knowledge, But if no one knows about it, it's worthless. Companies restructure. Industries shift. When that happens, your experience only matters if people remember you have it.

3. You're leaving money on the table.

A single post could generate consulting opportunities worth $2,000+ per day. Speaking engagements. Partnership deals. But only if people know you exist. Staying quiet means staying broke on opportunities.

4. You're making your career fragile.

2 years ago I was chasing likes like a proper mug.


The dopamine hit was mental.

I'd write these generic "top of funnel" posts about leadership and entrepreneurship. You know the ones.

Fluffy content that everyone could relate to.

And it worked, sort of.

100+ likes rolling in. Comments from people I'd never heard of. My notifications were buzzing.

I felt like I was smashing it.

But then what?

I'd sit there refreshing my DMs, waiting for all these amazing inbound leads to flood in.

Spoiler alert: they didn't.

The only time my phone actually rang was when I wrote those cringey "I'm available for hire" posts.

You know, the desperate ones where you basically beg for work.

And even then, the leads were proper rubbish.

Tyre kickers mostly.

I was frustrated as hell.

All these vanity metrics but nothing meaningful happening to my business.

That's when I realised I'd been playing the wrong game entirely.

So I binned the generic content.

Started writing specifically for founders who wanted to build their personal brands.

My engagement dropped initially. Went from 100+ likes to maybe 20-30.

But something mad happened.

The RIGHT people saw my content, 

Founders who'd been following me for months.

People who actually had budgets and real problems to solve.

All of the sudden reacting out to them via DMs was smooth as butter.

I closed more aligned clients, 

And I’m enjoying my work and my life much more than I did when I was x10 more popular.

The irony is wild, isn't it?

When I stopped trying to please everyone, I finally started attracting the people who mattered.

Quality over quantity wins every single time.

P.S. Quality over quantity is a lifestyle that helps me focus on the people who matter, enjoy my life as a digital nomad calmly and enjoy this view of Kigali, Rwanda.

Meet my new friend: Ozzy the monkey! 

(I gave him that name) 

His hobbies are eating banana and befriending with digital nomads in Lake Kivu, Rwanda 

He is a thought leader in his space,

The dominant male among his band 

And he really wants to win on LinkedIn.

I told him the way to win on linkedin is not to behave like all the other monkeys, 

But find his unique banana proposition.

In return, he took a selfie and sends warm greetings to all of my 16K followers.

Who needs conferences when you can network with a monkey in a lake? 

Ozzy the monkey is the best.

P.S. This lake in Rwanda is seriously underrated. No tourist in sight, it’s only me and Anna Pitner today!

Last year I was getting high engagement, but my pipeline unpredictable.

Everyone knew who I was, 
And while I was getting inbound leads,
The flow was unpredictable. 

Yes, I managed to get clients, but the unpredictability meant: 

-More sleepless nights
-Hesitation investing more in my business 
-Limiting beliefs about sales that hurt my growth.

Now, 

I didn't want every single post of mine to sound like a sales pitch (even though my offer posts always worked). 

I felt like I hit a rock bottom, even though I was successful on the surface. 

You see, sometimes success alone isn't enough, when you want to earn more, or when you simply want that success already achieved to be more predictable. 

Sound familiar?

Well, one thing that changed the game for me is DMs.

After learning from others how to do it, I created a system that works for me.

I started adding 100-200 connections weekly, 
Making sure they're all ideal clients.

In my messages, I'm both personal and businessy:
Offering a free resource that gives them a quick win.

The harmony happens when posts, resources, and DMs work together.

My posts warm up prospects, my DMs offer value upfront, 
And this creates a harmony that leads to calls.

I use conversations to diagnose their problems,
Listen with empathy, 

Naturally offer a call when it makes sense.

The mechanism is simple but powerful:

→ Find out if they actually have the problem I solve
→ Offer genuine help through a conversation
→ Listen and understand their situation

This approach books me 2-3 calls weekly with potential clients.

Some come directly from DMs, 
Others see my posts after we connect and resonate with the message.

Weekly conversations = predictable pipeline.

You don't need to be a LinkedIn expert to make it work for you.

You can either learn and implement this system to get a predictable pipeline from LinkedIn in 90 days, or have someone implementing that system for you.

I didn’t expect a farm visit to change me.


An hour outside Kigali the road opened into valleys so green they looked infinite.

We came to see the farm of our apartment owner. I thought it would be polite, a short stop.

Instead it felt like stepping into creation itself.

Peaking with glorious banana fields, 
And forest that feel endless.

The air was thick with sweetness.

Then she shared her vision.

To turn this farm into a place of gathering,
For retreats, guests, home for quiet souls.

And yet, even in motion, I forget to rest.

It’s not that I work 7 days a week,

Yet mentally,

Even during the weekend, I think abouty business. 

And when I stood there in the farm,

Let the views consume me,

I remembered what the Jewish sages say: 

6 days of work, 1 of stillness.
The cycle is sacred.

Without pause, the soil breaks.

The farm is clearly all about:

→ Feeding the body today
→ Planting for the soul tomorrow
→ Trusting the pattern of seasons

That's how I want my life to be.

When I realized that, I left lighter.

I saw how life must hold both harvest and planting.

One without the other is emptiness.

I choose to harvest for today but also plant for tomorrow,

As I am living for two people: myself now, and my future self I don’t know yet.

8 rules I use to choose my next destination as a digital nomad (After living in 9 countries):


1. High-quality WIFI & electricity 

The Internet must sustain the volume of:

Sales calls
Content strategy sessions
LinkedIn content interviews 
LinkedIn coaching sessions I do.

Unfortunately, Kenya is not a good match on this one. 

Thailand & Bulgaria are perfect in this regard.


2. Luxurious amenities at a funny price 

If me and Anna Pitner get an apartment with a gym, pool and a coworking space for as little as $1000 per month, it’s a win. 

Such deals are abundant in Southeast Asia! We were happy to live like this in Phuket for instance. 


3. A community of fellow nomads 

We have each other, yet it’s always great to have friends, and if they are nomads, we can share experiences and challenges.

A good example of such a destination:

Bansko in Bulgaria, and Hoi An in Vietnam.


4. Day trips to national parks 

I love rejuvenating myself via the beach/mountains. Good example of such destinations:

Da Nang in Vietnam, Mauritius, Georgia and Rwanda.


5. Affordable food orders & dining out 

I want to dine out at least once a day without thinking about money. $2 for pad Thai, $4 for rice and beef. Thailand and Vietnam are perfect in this regard! 


6. Safety & walkability 

I want to explore the streets freely without fear to take breaks when I work. It sounds basic, but it’s not always the case. 

In Thailand, Bulgaria and Mauritius it was seamless. Kenya felt extremely unsafe. 


7. Weather or AC solutions 

I'm sensitive to heat, but I can bear it if I live near the beach, or if there is Antarctica-like air conditioning. 

Countries with cool weather work too. 

Examples of such destinations:

Phuket & Bangkok (Hot, but strong AC)
Mauritius ( Hot, but beach nearby) 
Belgrade & Bansko (So cold!)


8. Ride-hailing apps

I don't drive, and public transportation in some areas might be unreliable. I prefer relying on Uber/Bolt/Grab, in countries where one ride is cheaper than a bus ride in my own country. 

Thailand, Vietnam, Georgia and Serbia were great in this regard! 

Kenya, Rwanda, Mauritius and Bulgaria not so much. 

And Singapore? Simply too expensive. 


This is my way of being a digital nomad, 

Working remotely on the weekdays,

Ghostwriting for founders & coaching solopreneurs on LinkedIn growth,

And using the weekends to travel freely.

That's how I mix work with leisure, 

Not balance work & life, 

Because work is a major part of my life.

P.S. What’s your favorite rule out of the 8?

The only type of calls I participate in are: sales calls with prospects, pre-paid consultation calls in which I build LinkedIn strategies for clients, and podcasts.

Any offer to “pick up my brain” or to “exchange ideas” will be dismissed as it’s a waste of my time. 

The next person who offers a coffee chat will be blocked without notice.

I discovered the most incredible safari experience in Rwanda! 

Meet your next obsession:

Akagera National Park.

It’s the ultimate hidden gem that nobody talks about in the context of safari culture in Africa.

What makes it so special you ask? 

I'm talking hippos that get out of the water and Chog on grass and leaves undisturbed.

Lions casually having zebra for lunch right in front of your jeep.

Gazelles with their adorable cubs hopping around without a care in the world.

And all of these beauty without the species that always ruins it for everyone: 

Homo Sapiens (well, almost… me and Anna Pitner were there). 

No fighting for the perfect photo spot with 47 other safari vehicles.

No queuing for 2 hours just to see a lion yawn.

I felt I was having a private wildlife documentary experience.

Just me, my girlfriend, the animals, and pure African wilderness that looks like a screen saver. 

I spent a day there and saw more wildlife than I did in a week in the Masai Mara.

So if you're thinking about doing a safari, seriously consider Rwanda.

Skip the overhyped spots that everyone raves about on social media.

Go where the magic happens without the madness of too many Homo Sapiens.
