- Planning and implementing marketing campaigns, utilizing both online and print channels to produce email newsletters, homepage promotions, catalogues, inserts and newspaper advertisements that drive revenue for the brand.
- Producing product ranges for each gardening season, to maximize sales at the right time.
- Being the driving force behind the Van Meuwen brand’s look and appearance, liaising closely with designers to create print materials and ecommerce team members to create an effective and profitable online shop.
- Working closely with buyers to get new product to bring to the brand’s range and at the price that maximizes sales opportunities.
- Generating new business through affiliate websites such as Money Saving Expert, as well as online marketplaces such as eBay and Amazon.
- Reporting on KPI on a weekly basis to B2C Sales Manager to ensure the brand is on track to achieve longer term goals.
- Utilising Google Analytics to report on digital campaigns and produce future optimised campaigns.

Brand Manager

A role which began as Account Manager, however developed into more focus on developing existing accounts and relationships, as well as seeking new business. I took on a more senior role within the team of five, helping other account managers with day to day problems and playing a mentor role to the team administrator. My previous experience allowed me to effectively train my colleague and show them the ins and outs, as well as how to manage and produce effective, useful work to support the rest of the team.

Account Development Manager

Providing insightful, in depth and accurate data analysis on direct and email marketing campaigns, via Faststats and Microsoft Excel. From this, making suggestions and recommendations on future steps to improve company performance.

Marketing Data Administrator

Answering inbound telephone calls from customers with queries and giving them helpful, beneficial advice. This as well as handling customer order placements through a data entry system and processing credit and debit card transactions.

I created demand for ME as a PERSON.

Not by being the loudest. Not by being the best.

But by writing.

Here’s 5 writing lessons to quietly create demand for yourself on LinkedIn:

1. Get comfy with being personal

If I did a bit more of this at the start I could’ve grown quicker. But I held back for ages. When anyone asks me how to grow their following at the start, I always advise them to go harder on personal content. You need people to see YOU. See you as a real human. Experiences, struggles, wins, all of that. Honest stuff.

2. Fight every urge and just BE vulnerable

Too many MALE C-Suites think showing weakness means you’re weak. I get it. But it’s wrong. Could show you 100 male C-Suites who prove it too. Talk about failures, mistakes etc. Weakness shows your target audience that you’re a real person with emotions. Not a robot. We don’t connect with robots. Unless you’re Joaquin Phoenix and your robot is Scarlett Johanson. 

3. Get as close to the line of oversharing as possible

I’m a pretty private person. But you wouldn’t think so if you looked at how many pics I share here of my life, stories I tell, opinions I share. There’s this invisible line where you start to think “hmm, is this oversharing?”. It normally isn’t. And that’s when your posts become memorable. Because others wouldn’t dare themselves to go that far (even though it’s not that far).

4. Become a teacher

I never thought I’d be a teacher but here we are. I teach every day. I’m qualified to teach because I’m only teaching what I know. I don’t teach how to fly to the moon because I haven’t done that. I teach how to make posting on LinkedIn fast, easy and fun because I’m pretty good at that. Teach what you know. There’s always an audience for it, I promise you.

5. Think SLIGHTLY different

I say slightly, because most people think the same. We’re kinda like sheep really, humans. So if you just step one lane to the left and think SLIGHTLY differently, you’ll suddenly stand out. Posting on LinkedIn is one way to stand out. But show your genuine, real thoughts and perspectives. I see the same shit thoughts day in day out on here. Just being a bit different goes a long way.

I'm a married 32 year old running a one person business.

I'm paid $10k/client to teach LinkedIn writing.

But last year I hated writing on LinkedIn:

I do stuff every day to attract new people:

- I reply to comments people leave every day
- I message new people every week
- I connect with new people every week

It takes time. 
It takes effort.
It takes discipline. 

I do my best to have fun with it and do it quickly.

I write up all my posts on Mondays.
I use magicpost.in to schedule them all.
I log in at the times I schedule and engage.

Then I spend the rest of my week speaking to new people and working with clients.

If I could give my 5 best pieces of advice:

1. Put loads of effort into speaking to new people
2. Don’t get impatient. Even if it’s looking grim.
3. Remove your ego and enjoy being a beginner.
4. You’re not entitled to grow followers. Work.
5. Don’t expect the same results as me.

My approach to writing online is incredibly boring:

- i write about things i actually did
- even if those things weren't "exciting"
- no made-up scenarios or hypotheticals
- actual real stuff that happened to me
- usually pretty mundane experiences
- but always relevant to what i'm posting about

I've been writing online for years now.

Which means I've seen every "content hack" and "viral formula" come and go.

That means I'm conditioned to think:

- i need crazy stories to get attention
- i have to manufacture drama or excitement
- everything needs to be a "breakthrough moment"

And live in this weird cycle of trying to make my normal life sound more interesting than it actually is, just to get a few more likes.

But I love my simple, "boring" approach to content.

Wouldn't change it.

It's faster to write because I'm not making stuff up.
It's easier to write because I lived it.
It's more fun to write because it's actually me.

I'll let the wannabe thought leaders invent their perfect case studies and post them on LinkedIn for engagement 😂
