- Managing and growing sales for the Van Meuwen brand through all channels.
- Planning and implementing marketing campaigns, utilizing both online and print channels to produce email newsletters, homepage promotions, catalogues, inserts and newspaper advertisements that drive revenue for the brand.
- Producing product ranges for each gardening season, to maximize sales at the right time.
- Being the driving force behind the Van Meuwen brand’s look and appearance, liaising closely with designers to create print materials and ecommerce team members to create an effective and profitable online shop.
- Working closely with buyers to get new product to bring to the brand’s range and at the price that maximizes sales opportunities.
- Generating new business through affiliate websites such as Money Saving Expert, as well as online marketplaces such as eBay and Amazon.
- Reporting on KPI on a weekly basis to B2C Sales Manager to ensure the brand is on track to achieve longer term goals.
- Utilising Google Analytics to report on digital campaigns and produce future optimised campaigns.

Brand Manager

A role which began as Account Manager, however developed into more focus on developing existing accounts and relationships, as well as seeking new business. I took on a more senior role within the team of five, helping other account managers with day to day problems and playing a mentor role to the team administrator. My previous experience allowed me to effectively train my colleague and show them the ins and outs, as well as how to manage and produce effective, useful work to support the rest of the team.

Account Development Manager

Providing insightful, in depth and accurate data analysis on direct and email marketing campaigns, via Faststats and Microsoft Excel. From this, making suggestions and recommendations on future steps to improve company performance.

Marketing Data Administrator

Answering inbound telephone calls from customers with queries and giving them helpful, beneficial advice. This as well as handling customer order placements through a data entry system and processing credit and debit card transactions.

Customer Service Agent

7 Time Saving Writing Lessons

Attract dream clients (consistently) with copywriting.

Great copywriters see hooks like this:  
 
Your hook acts as a filter. 
 
Here's what I mean: 
 
Instead writing a hook thinking:  
 
“I hope this gets me the most views” 
 
Write your hook thinking: 
 
“I hope this attracts the right person” 
 
Simple mindset shift, but hooks are a means of: 
 
1. Putting the right sign post up 
2. Making it clear who the directions are for 
3. And why they need to ‘go this way’ 
 
Your hook is the filter. 
 
Your content lives (and dies) with how well you filter traffic. 
 
Give the right directions, to the right people.

How I write 1 week’s content in 2-3 hours (every Monday): 
 
1. Content Strategy 
 
This solves a number of problems: 
 
- Knowing what to write 
- Generating ideas 
- Guessing 
 
If you want to get results on purpose, create a simple content strategy that aligns with that result. 
 
2. Client Result 
 
I want to show prospects that I get results. 
 
My prospects want to see I know my sh*t. Without that, I’m preaching. Even if I don’t drive leads direct from the post...I know it’s warming someone up more every time. 
 
I post 1 every week as a reminder (and to make an “ask” if I have space for new clients). 
 
3. Client problem 
 
I want to show real (recent) problems I solved for clients. 
 
I can assume that if my current client has this problem, 1,000s others do too. Attracting 1,000s of potential clients who’s problem I already actively solve. 
 
I look back at the last week of client interactions for this. 
 
4. Repurpose 
 
I write more than my “week’s” content every week. 
 
I leave comments. I write short tweets. I send a weekly email newsletter.  
 
If I like a sentence from one of these things, I’ll take it out and create an image in Canva. Then add my additional thoughts in a text post. 
 
This way I’m getting more ROI on the content I already write. 
 
5. Customer Testimonial 
 
What’s better than you telling people about your customer’s results? 
 
Your customers telling people about your customer’s results. 
 
This is ‘social proof’. Powerful persuasive technique. Humans follow other humans, so showing that real humans are enjoying my product or service. And they get results. 
 
This builds trust, authority and drives conversions. 
 
6. Storytime 
 
Personal content is cringy. 
 
So instead of telling people about how you used to be fat and now you’re not. Or how you went to get a coffee and learned 5 things about modern life. 
 
Instead, tell a story about your business journey. 
 
I always wrap my stories around recent lessons/wins/mistakes from building my digital writing business. 
 
TL;DR: 
 
It takes practice to write efficiently. 
 
But creating a strategy that aligns with your goals, then writing content to that every week... 
 
That is how you will build confidence, speed and get results.

I see bad hooks daily. But they're easily fixed. 
 
Here's 3 hook writing tips to fix bad hooks: 
 
1. Stop saying 'Here's how...' 
 
- no need to say 'here's' 
- more powerful to say 'how to/how i' 
- less words is always better than more 
- 'how to' mimics how audience searches google 
- 'how i' feels like you're peeling back the curtain 
- feels sneaky and secret and saucy 
 
2. Be more specific 
 
- you're probably too broad 
- your hook says 'how to do content marketing' 
- but what specifically within content marketing? 
- you can't cover the whole thing in one post 
- too broad = fail to speak to specific pain points 
- one specific problem per post 
- e.g. how to write 500 word blogs 
- e.g. how to write great 3 word subject lines 
- e.g. how i fix linkedin content hooks 
- focus on subtopics, not broad topics 
 
3. Don't assume people's perception 
 
- lets take google rankings for example 
- if you say 'high organic ranking' 
- some might think 1 is high 
- some might think 10 is high 
- don't assume your 'high' is theirs too 
- be clear with the outcome you help with 
- e.g. 3 leads/month, not lots of leads/month 
- e.g. 1,000,000 views/month, not high views/month 
- e.g. save 5 hours/week, not massive time saving 
 
Takeaway: 
 
My clients are always shocked by the level of detail I go into fixing their hooks. 
 
Every word matters. 
Every full stop, colon, comma. 
Every number or statistic. 
 
Remember: your hook is a filter. 
 
You filter attention to you. 
 
Get it wrong, filter the wrong attention. 
 
Get it right, filter the right attention.

99% of creators are scared to create offers/products/ideas and ask if anyone wants to pay them for it.
