8 tips to boost your cold outreach campaigns:

1️⃣ No templates.
Use templates for inspiration, not for an actual copy. Only tailored copies win; mass-market emails fail. If you’ve done a good job nailing the portrait (ICP), persona, and offer, the task now is just to beautifully compile it into an email.

2️⃣ Mobile adaptability is a must. While most users still open emails on desktops, the percentage of mobile users is constantly increasing.

3️⃣ Subject and first lines are the most important lines in your email, as a prospect sees them in the mailbox and decides whether to open the email.

4️⃣ Keep it short. Cold emails are becoming shorter and shorter. Nobody wants to read a 10-paragraph email, so your task is to fit the email copy into a few sentences.

5️⃣ No spam words. That’s everything that sounds salesy, like “free”, and “now”. Many of my LinkedIn colleagues have done a great job compiling spam-word lists, so I won’t add anything new here. Also, some tools like Reply. io have spam analysis features.

Small tip: if you cannot exclude a spam word (e.g. free) from your email as it’s an integral part of your offer, paraphrase it using ChatGPT.

6️⃣ No generic stuff. Everything that sounds obvious (I’m reaching out because…) or overused (Speaking to CMOs like you… Any thoughts on? Your last post/article resonated with me.) should be omitted.

People in digital are educated and know what outreach is and that it’s done automatically and in bulk. So the trick here is to make it as personalized as possible. Personalization doesn’t mean using a first name and a company name only. It means you email a person because they face troubles, work in a certain segment, or have a certain position with specific pain points that you can solve.

7️⃣ 4-question framework:
- Why me? That’s the question your prospect should know the answer to after reading your email. 
- Why you? That’s about your offer. 
- Why now? That’s mainly about the portrait (ICP). 
- What’s next? It’s about CTA.

8️⃣ Spintax. Using spintax makes each of your emails unique, it's great for algo and helps you avoid spam filters.

Checklist to cover before launching your cold outreach campaign:

1. Niche for cold outreach – whether you can generate the leads in this niche and how hard it could be.

2. 3Ps (Portrait, Persona, Proposal)— Is it clear whom you target and what your offer is? Sometimes, companies do cold outreach without a clear understanding. That’s going to be either testing or spam.

3. Social proof - Can you share testimonials, awards, or numbers?

4. Content— Do you have supporting content (articles, presentations, checklists) to address/solve your prospect’s pain points?

5. Backup domain for the outreach. 2-3-5 domains are even better.

6. Redirect - Do these backup domains redirect to your original website?

7. DKIM/SPF/DMARC - are all these records set up correctly? Sometimes, minor errors can affect deliverability.

8. Warmup should be enabled before and during the cold outreach.

9. Daily limit - are you sending emails carefully?

10. Verified mailboxes — Are you sending emails to verified addresses? Don’t use risky and catch-all.

11. Prospects — How are you segmenting them, and where are you getting the prospects? I prefer using Lead Finder by Instantly.ai.

12. Personalization — Do you have it and how deep is it?

13. Strategy — How you approach the outreach in general.

14. Copy — Is there a clear understanding of your offer, and does your email address pain points/JTBD of persona?

15. Follow-ups — Are you using them smartly or just spamming people?
