Apparently Microsoft edge will just randomly update in the background and re-add its icon without permission. I'm not using edge. I have no interest in using edge. Especially because this is the same company who pre-installs candy crush on windows machines.

Most days, you put in the hard work, try to make the right calls, and strive to build something meaningful. And then, every once in a while, someone big notices. Tailwind's extension is FEATURED on the Microsoft Edge Add Ons home page! Love being at the forefront of #AI, and am so grateful for our friends at Microsoft. Huge shoutout to Will, Nichole, Logan, Kensen, and all the engineers and work that went into getting here. Microsoft Edge is leaking the sites you visit to Bing. This sounds creepy, but now imagine if your personal data was being fed to GPT-4 to optimize generative influence? AI-integrated vs. traditional search: Should every search query have a straightforward answer?   It seems like a no-brainer: Entrusting a modern AI like ChatGPT with time-consuming data analysis can increase efficiency with search engines. But is AI already capable of helping us improve web searches, or is the traditional, "human" search process still better? Here's what is currently happening: The internet search business is a hot one. Microsoft jumped on the AI bandwagon early and recently invested 10 billion dollars in further development of ChatGPT. The new version of Bing combines Microsoft's AI with search requests and helps users include several perspectives quickly, thus grasping the bigger picture. Google was roused from its slumber by ChatGPT and is now in a rush to throw its own AI models onto the market as well. In addition to the Google chatbot Bard, the company announced another AI called NORA. NORA stands for "No One Right Answer" and is expected to display a selection of possible answers for search queries to which you cannot find any clear answer. Since Google currently only offers vague announcements, making a definitive statement about the quality of Bard or NORA is impossible. With its search engine Bing, Microsoft has a clear lead and could, for the first time, become a serious competitor to Google.   For now, let's concentrate on the features Microsoft provides with its inhouse-search engine:   👍 advantages of Bing chat for web searches: ·  Currently runs with ChatGPT-4 connection ·  AI can quickly search for keywords and search in many different languages simultaneously. ·  You can enter up to 2,000 characters in your search query and receive a precise answer tailored to your question, including sources. ·  AI can directly interact with and provide information on the website you are currently visiting.   👎 remaining weaknesses of Bing chat for web searches: ·   Access only via Microsoft Edge browser ·   ChatGPT sometimes fails to recognize a source's trustworthiness or presents false information as supposed facts. ·  We are still unsure how AI decides which information is most relevant. ·   No access to fresh content   Therefore, switching to auto-pilot by letting AI do all the work is not recommendable. AI may act as a capable co-pilot, but humans should remain in charge of the steering wheel by monitoring and correcting.   The main issue is: Should we trust a chatbot to summarise and feed our answers on a complicated topic? Although we are impressed by the functions, as of now, we still have doubts. If people only see an explanation summarised by the AI chatbot, why should they invest time in creating or providing quality content on their website – getting traffic or citations? The power of human opinions comes to light when complex questions arise. What are your thoughts on and experiences with the topic of AI-related searches? 🤖🔎

𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗕𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗔𝗜’𝘀 𝗗𝗔𝗟𝗟-𝗘 𝗔.𝗜. 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 Microsoft on Tuesday added a new artificial intelligence-powered capability to its search slate: AI-generated visuals. The new tool, powered by OpenAI’s DALL-E, will allow users to generate images using their own words, such as asking for a picture of “an astronaut walking through a galaxy of sunflowers,” the company explained in a press release. The feature, called “Bing Image Creator,” will be available to Bing and Microsoft Edge users in preview. It will first roll out in the search engine’s “Creative Mode.” Eventually, it’ll become fully integrated into the Bing chat experience, the company added. On Microsoft Edge, the image generator will become available in the browser’s search bar. Microsoft has bolstered its AI-assisted search functions in recent months, first announcing AI-powered updates to Bing and Edge in early February. Last week, the tech giant also announced it would add its generative AI technology to some of its most popular business apps, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Excitement around the promise of generative AI has been driven in large part by the runaway success of ChatGPT, which was released by Microsoft-backed OpenAI in November. As Microsoft’s new capabilities became available to users, some beta testers identified issues, including threats, unhelpful advice and other glitches. Microsoft says it’s taken steps to curb the misuse of Bing Image Creator by working with OpenAI to develop safety measures for the public. These safety measures include controls “that aim to limit the generation of harmful or unsafe images,” plus a modified Bing icon that will be added to the bottom left corner of images, with the goal of clarifying the images were created using AI, Microsoft said. Microsoft’s tiered approach to Bing Image Creator’s rollout is also inspired by the iterative approach the company attempted with past releases. “People used it in some ways we expected and others we didn’t,” Microsoft said of Bing’s new capabilities. “In this spirit of learning and continuing to build new capabilities responsibly, we’re rolling out Bing Image Creator in a phased approach by flighting with a set of preview users before expanding more broadly.” 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲: https://lnkd.in/gcuuhHUQ #microsoft #openai #dalle #ai

I recently switched from Chrome to Microsoft Edge and couldn't be happier. It's more privacy-friendly, gentle on RAM, all chrome extensions work, vertical tabs, in-built tools like tabs suspender, collections, screenshot markup tools, pdf tools. I'm sold!

Do you alt text? You should and here's why. Did you know that 98% of the worlds' 1 million top websites are not accessible to the disability community as they were built by brands without considering the needs of 20% of the population?! My colleagues working on Microsoft Edge Internet Browser use #InclusiveDesign methodologies like co-creating with the visually impaired community to understand the biggest challenges faced when navigating the Internet. This is #empathyatwork or #humandesign. Over the years I do whatever I can to spread the word about #alttext . Nearly 11 months ago we chatted about this didn't we Jillian Laks? - and as a result it became a feature request for posting on LinkedIn, right? AND NOW - not only have my colleagues at Microsoft Edge created a browser that automatically does this for people - provide alternative text for images, but LinkedIn posts have it now too! (see my image below for an example) This image in this post is my water bottle with a sticker I designed 4 years ago to socialize internally at Microsoft when we were in meetings (in person!) or at events - as a conversation starter. It says, "Do you Alt Text"? I remember it catching the eye of Rik van der Kooi and he asked me about it. It started a conversation that we both appreciated. So, what can YOU do? Please take the time to add alt text to your websites' images, your #PowerPoint images before creating a PDF, your LinkedIn, anywhere and everywhere. And where the option is not available - make the feature request!  Ask people, "Do you Alt Text?" #doyoualttext After a lot of hard work from our product teams, I'm happy they announced that edge desktop browser is working to fix this issue using #Microsoft #Azure. Check out the article in the comments section from the The Verge which will tell you more about the #inclusiveproduct feature. This is #marketingwithpurpose #doyoualttext

‼️ According to a source at Microsoft, Windows 12 will play baby crying sounds if you change your browser away from Microsoft Edge.

No. For the 50th time. I don't want to open my PDFs with Microsoft Edge.

I know, it sounds quite weird 😅 Have ever thought about playing games with your eyes movements? 👀 Initially, I thought to play famous Subway suft game, but it was very complicated. Therefore I choose surf game in microsoft edge browser. Current game requires only two movements: left and right and game mode is slow enough to play with eyes 👀. Technical part: - Used mediapipe facemash for detection and tracking eyes. -Used opencv to display and capture web camera - Created own algorithm to identify position of eyes and classify wheter it is left, right or neutral position Github link: https://lnkd.in/gDeBmEAx Do you agree that it is funny project 😄? #project #microsoft #mode #github #eyes #opencv #python #mediapipe #webcamera #surfgame #funnyproject #left #right #neutral #edge #simple #cv2022 #cv #weird
