What I’m thinking about during week two of no childcare: -Three year olds work at their own pace, and they could not care less if they’re making you late for a client meeting because they have fuzz in their toes.  -It is possible for two humans in the under-four-foot crowd to go through an entire container of Nutella in less than a week.  -The PJ Masks’ operation seems really expensive. How do they pay for everything? -I fully understand why Romeo and Night Ninja are out to get them. They struggle with really obvious lessons and are pretty selfish. I’m team Ninjalino.  -There is an entire segment of children’s entertainment that is just the commercialization of watching your older sibling beat the hard levels. I am… confused… by this.  -Yes, it can take a five-year-old six WHOLE minutes to put on ONE SLEEVE of a shirt.  -Not the green cup! I said the pink cup! I DON’T WANT GREEN.  -Saying, “I’m on a call” when they come to ask for something, even though they know what that means, will just make them ask louder.  -Having David Erlich nearby to say, “Can you please make sure that’s an excited scream and not an ‘I lost a finger’ scream?” has been a lifesaver.  -Toy unboxing videos are actual nightmare fuel. -These kids would do CPR to bring me back from a heart attack to ask if they can have a snack. -They are still the funniest people I have ever met. -I am lucky to have colleagues, clients and friends who have stepped up in the biggest ways this week to cover my communities, move meetings and just check in on the chaos. It's reminded me that we can do hard things, but even hard tings are better with memes. Feel free to commiserate in the comments. I know there are so many of us in the same boat. **Oh and Black women should not be four times more likely to die in childbirth than white women in the wealthiest country in the world. Our generation is going to be the best parents. ▶️We will embrace our kids for who they are. ▶️There would never be a forced acceptance. ▶️They will be free to make choices and take calls. We have to stop apologising for having children! ‘I’m sorry my kids are crying in the background’  ‘I’m sorry I have to leave work at 5pm to get my kids from daycare’  ‘I’m sorry about my kids’  We’re working from home now and being a parent is not something I want to hide, or feel I need to hide - it’s just how it is.  It is also so wonderful seeing the personal sides of my colleagues, meeting their children on the odd Google Hangout, seeing them as a parent... If you’re working from home and your child is there, please don’t apologize.  The reality is you’re both a parent and at work.  And that’s ok.  #Reality #Parenting #WorkingFromHome

This morning was rough for one of my girls: 1. She cut her bangs... AGAIN and lost access to her scissors for a week 2. She wrote on our countertops with a pen and was sentenced to a day without technology 3. She got dog 💩 all over her shoes and onto our floors One could say she's on a streak. This morning, it was hard for her to put a smile on her face. She felt like the villain. And I totally know what that feels like. When you only seem to do things wrong, none of your wins are celebrated. So before she went off to school, I gave her a big hug and reminded her of how well she did during her first piano class. She needs to know that she's also done some things right 🖤 And that goes for your team or customers too. They could be on a losing streak, and all that's needed is a little push to get them back on track 👏 #parenting #tech #customersuccess

You know what's funny? I post here every day about marketing... But the most viral post I've written was about family and being a Dad. I was the guy writing about how I'm a working Dad. I do drop off and pick up. I come in after 9 and I leave at 4 PM to pick up my kids every day. Family comes first, etc. that whole thing. And little did I know a few months later I'd be trapped with them ever day for 6 months straight 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Send help!!!! To the working parents out there, keep going.
